i’ve developed the habit whenever i talk about prostitution to always come back to the fundamental issue which is that paying for sex is opposed to freely given consent no matter how privileged some individual prostitutes might be. we can talk about regulation and its important to point out how impossible it is to actually implement and enforce these regulations but never stray away to far from the core issue because the goal should be abolition. no way around it. we can talk about some short term measures for harm reduction but they should always be accompanied by a plan for the long term so prostitution may become a fringe phenomenon in the future. because there is no regulation, nothing that can be changed within the system that will solve the fundamental issues of sex as a service, sex as one person serving the other, sex as a product, and so on. the system of prostitution has to be dismantled or women will never be truly liberated.

tfw you're forced to complete the same "diversity and inclusion" training interactive video every single year for your job, which includes a skit where a woman is offended because her coworker, a muslim man, is shaking other men's hands but blatantly refuses to shake hers and tells her it's because she's a woman... and you can't pass the training until you make your character tell the woman that she's imagining negative intent, that she needs to "respect the customs of other cultures", and that complaining about this is an actionable offense according to HR.

jesus christ can somebody please explain to me what gay people (homosexuals) have in common with people who feel no sexual attraction and people who like to fuck with no strings attached. the original purpose of pride was to celebrate homosexuality and protest the government's homophobic laws and treatment of homosexual people. the absence of sexuality is not a sexuality and can be influenced by outside factors like antidepressants and living in a pornified society etc just off the top of my head. and there is 0 legislation in the united states that limits your freedom of hooking up and not wanting a relationship

another pregnant woman died in poland because the doctors waited for the fetus to die on its own while ignoring her sepsis symptoms (there was NO CHANCE of the fetus surviving, but they didn’t want to get charged with performing an illegal abortion). but yeah women around here don’t have many kids cause they just… uuuh *checks notes* party all the time

small in the grand scheme of things but i do not like how so many of women's rights gains are described with terms like "allowed". oh women are allowed to vote now, as if men just became thoughtful and generous one day and decided to benevolently allow us our rights out of the goodness of their hearts.

no!! men did not allow us anything! they stole our rights from us and women fought hard to win them back! they deny us our rights even now! we must fight to keep them or men will take them away again at the first opportunity! many men hem publicly admit to wanting to do so!!

this language implies women's liberation as something our foremothers simply waited around for until men graciously allowed it, it negates the effort and risks they took fighting for it and subtly suggests that if we only wait long enough, we'll be "allowed" other rights too. as if we needed their permission. the constant description of women's rights in this passive language, reveals that most have no idea what it took to win the rights some of us now enjoy and that there is an unconscious assumption that yes, one day, men or some other higher power woke up and simply "allowed" it. not the fault of women of course, men keep the knowledge from us by sanitizing the history books.

it is such a small difference in language, but i know you know the importance of accurate language. men never allowed us shit.
