Plant of the Day
Tuesday 14 April 2020
In the roadside verges and beneath hedgerows the white flowers of Stellaria holostea (greater stitchwort, adder's meat, star-of-Bethlehem, wedding cakes, daddy's-shirt-buttons, snapdragon) are shining. These wildflowers bloom from April to June; and when the the seed capsules are ripe they can be heard 'popping' as the seeds are expelled.

concept: you’re not absolutely fluent, but now you don’t have to switch tabs 20 times to translate words in a ten minutes video in your target language. there’s still a lot of words and phrases and conditions you don’t know, but now you’re no longer afraid to strike up a conversation with a native speaker. yes, you have your accent but you know they can understand you and you can understand them. you can express your thoughts and emotions in your target language. you can even think in your target language. and most importantly, it doesn’t feel like a target anymore, you can feel it in you. it’s your language.

Quarantine update
Hi kiddos, so let's talk about real shit today.
I don’t want to be pessimistic or make someone anxious however I thought it would be important to talk about the covid-19, because of many reasons.
BE CAREFUL, please be careful my little flowers, this is dangerous in many ways and I love you all. Wash your hands many times, isolate yourself, do whatever you can to protect yourself and your family.
COUNTRY SITUATION, as many European countries, mine is in emergency state, with means, if we do shit, we have no rights and police can do whatever they want. Most of people are in isolation at home, the others can only go to work and if necessary, grocery shopping or pharmacy.
UNIVERSITY, so my university choose to give us online classes, which means, every day, since 8am till 2pm I have video conference classes (it’s fun and awkward at the same time) to be honest I like it a lot, I’ve been closed at home for almost 2 weeks, so it helps having something normal to do.
WHAT ABOUT PROJECT? As some of you know I’m in architecture, and it’s a practical course, so making a project without the physicality of a class, not being able to have a professor drawing on my stuff and the making of models it getting difficult. But we can do it, its difficult but manageable, so let’s keep al l the cookies packages and make models of them! Also, my professors are really cool and good humans, it helps.
NOT GOING INSANE, funny thing about me, I’ve been diagnosed with generative anxiety, so it’s getting a little difficult do be at home. HOWEVER, there are some things that can help. To me, it is really good to make things as normal as they can be, make a routine, classes, speak with friends and my boyfriend, do exercise, read. I will give you a list of things you can do at home and have been helping me at least.
Hope this little rant helps in some way and if any of you need to talk be my guest, I am here for you guys.

Plants are just like… Too much sun. Not enough sun. Ground too wet. Ground too dry. The pH balance is wrong. There’s not enough drainage. I don’t like terracotta. Feed me. Stop feeding me. God was killed here. I do not vibe with this soil.

10 Things I Wish I Knew Before University
You are going to feel like dropping out. I would say to stick it out for the first year and sit for finals. If you get a good grade for your finals, that could really give your confidence a boost and motivate you to keep going. And then, if you still feel like dropping out or changing majors, you should do as much research as possible.
Feeling pressured to do more things. During my first year, I said yes to everything–even things that I didn’t feel like doing. I felt like if I didn’t, I’d be missing out on something really important or fun. FOMO, basically. However, more often than not, I wasn’t missing much and these opportunities will arise again very soon.
Buying too many unnecessary things. I bought so many stationery and notebooks before I started uni in hopes that they would motivate me to study. I ended up not using even half of them my first year. At least, I’d be set for supplies until I graduate.
Revising in uni is not the same as revising in high school. I used to think I could study last minute for a test, like I did in high school. I learned the hard way that that wasn’t the case at all. Now, I review the topics after every lecture. The key is to keep up because all those lectures are going to pile up really fast.
Past papers are your new best friend. I find that professors have their favourite questions that they like to give out. During finals, they might even use the same exact questions as they did in tests!
Failing/Getting a low grade in a test isn’t going to ruin your life. I once got so caught up on that one test. But luckily during finals, I snapped out of it and just tried my best. My final grade wasn’t too bad. You live and you learn.
Wear whatever you want (as long as it doesn’t get you in trouble). When I wear a hoodie and sweatpants, I get comments that I look like I just rolled out of bed (which I did, duh). And when I have really nice makeup on and do my hair, I’m trying to impress someone. I think people just like to run their mouth and it’s nothing personal, so you shouldn’t care what they say anyway.
Keep in touch with friends outside your university. It can really come in handy during times when you really have to vent about someone in your classes. They can also help you keep grounded and have a different perspective.
You don’t have to love the library. I’m the kind of girl who studies lying on her stomach on the bed with papers and books surrounding me and my cat stepping on them occasionally. I think the library is too quiet and public for me. And if you’re the same way and prefer the cafe or elsewhere, then that’s okay too. The goal here is that you get your studying done.
Stay healthy. Whenever it’s near finals, I would abandon every other responsibility except studying. I would stop eating healthy and quit exercising, all in the name of making time to study. But they should go hand-in-hand with studying and not one or the other. I find that the better I take care of myself, the better my grades are. You should also get enough sleep–this, I never fail to do.

Today was a bad day. I had an exam which I don't know how it went, than I was way to tired so I slept an hour and when I woke up I just couldn't concentrate on my project. So, to compensate it, I'm gonna pull an all-night today.
Let's be real, bad days happen, you just have to stay up and do your best.

The 20's are upon us, so let's bring back going to university in suits, smoking in cafés while discussing academia, wearing bold red lipstick everyday and getting absolutely drunk on weekends while listening to jazz
