Sensory Knowledge: Information absorbed through the use of the five senses. This information provides the knowledge we need to understand ourselves and our exterior world. Creative practitioners can use methods to make the interpreter use any one of these senses whilst in the presence of the piece, sculpture, performance etc. The video above is a short Ted Ed talk presented by Mark Changizi on the topic of why do we see optical illusions, which some creative practitioners use within their work. A creative practitioners use of optical illusions may further interest the interpreter, possibly even into the unconscious where said interpreter or audience has already made judgement of the image, taken a moment so determine what the raw image is etc.

Creative identity: The way in which a creative practitioner conducts themselves in their practice for the interpreter or audience. Creative identity can be authentic or in authentic. an example is Miley Cyrus ‘we can't stop’ and the angry oppressed disney start phase, this creative identity was to appeal to an older audience than that of Disney age. “The aspects of one’s self and identity that matter in the moment are determined by what is relevant in the moment,” "That's why, as soon as I turned 18, you guys wonder why I was twerking at Juicy J shows. I had just spent 10 years every day with my dad and grandma," she added. "I had to break free." (Cyrus, entertainment tonight, May 16, 2017.)

Social Identity: Social identity is a person’s sense of who they are based on their group membership. (Tajfel and Turner 1979.)
(Tajfel 1979.) proposed that the groups (e.g. social class, family, race, gender etc.) which people belonged to were an important source of pride and self-esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity, a sense of belonging to the social world. Above is a short video and articles from the Women's March of 2018, together for equality an event which a vast majority of women (and now men) attend. Targeting specific social categories enables creative practitioners to manufacture how the work produced is accepted by the interpreter.

Fractured Identity: Identifies the self as the communication of many, and possibly conflicting identities. (Stuart Hall, 1996.) The above image entitled ‘Fractured Identity’ is oil on canvas by artist Leah Saulnier, completed in early 2013 and uploaded July 8th 2013. “My husband had a stroke a few months ago, when he came home he mentioned a good name for a band ‘Fractured Identity’, i don't think he made the connection with his stroke, but it did give me this image.” (Saulnier on ‘Fractured Identity’ 2013.)

Authenticity: “The quality of state of being authentic, reliable and genuine.” ‘Confession is considered to bear a special stamp of Authenticity. It has become a crucial mode of self examination...a dominant form of self-expression..the truth of the self and to the self have become the markers of authenticity.’ Todd Hido, a photographer whose series of photos entitled ‘silver meadows’ (featured on Instagram page.) Shows a sense of Authenticity, as the social media platform is managed by himself alone. ‘Silver meadows’ features houses, streets, landscapes and people that remind Hido of his home life. Without the use of authenticity, many creative practioners work have a chance of no longer having any genuine aspects. “The will to establish the nominal authenticity of a work of art, identifying its maker and provenance — in a phrase, determining how the work came to be — comes from a general desire to understand a work of art according to its original canon of criticism.”

Creative Influence: The scientific definition of creativity. According to this definition a work needs to be ‘new’ and ‘valuable’ to be creative. ‘New’ means a work is original and never created before. “Creativity is based on the combination of existing ideas, but the real question is; ‘where does combination creativity end and plagiarism start? Especially wit the use of modern technology making it easier to find, sample and steal the work of others.” Without creative influence there would be little work completed or showcased in the arts, as all creative practitioners have a muse, influence or inspiration from a creative practitioner before them. “I want to play a song by one of the artists that inspired me, without them, i wouldn't be here” similar to the words of Bacon “Picasso is the reason why i paint. He is the father figure, who gave me the wish to paint”

A dream is an escape hatch or safety-valve through which repressed desires, fears, or memories seek an outlet into the conscious mind. The emotion in question is censored by the conscious mind and so had to enter the dream in disguise, like a person barred from a club who gets in by dressing up as somebody else.
Sigmund Freud, The Interpretation of Dreams (via heteroglossia)
Overdetermination: “Overdetermination describes Freud’s unconscious as a ‘thought factory’ in analogy with an inexhaustibly productive team of weavers.”(Selasa, 01 January 2008 Overdetermination: Paul Klee Death and Fire.) “Freud rejected reductionist views of consciousness and behaviour, he viewed this as complexly shaped, and by every experience, either remembered or not.” As stated in The Interpretation Of Dreams (translated in 1911.) “There are not limits to the determinants that may be present.” Rendering the human conscious as Overdetermined. unconscious: The part of the mind which is inaccessible to the conscious mind but which affects behaviour and emotions. (2018 Oxford University Press.) Accessed online: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/unconscious
The unconscious can be described as small actions or characteristics we live with day to day, habits or thoughts planted deep within our subconscious. “Fleeting perceptions may register in the unconscious mind long before we are aware of them.” “The unconscious can be the source of our hidden dears and beliefs that interfere with everyday life.” The above video takes a further inside look into the unconcious mind, beginning by enlightening the audience on how they have already passed judgement and made thoughts and decisions on an individual featured. As artists, through the unconscious, are able to safely and healthily express said art form.

“Essentialism, in its most stripped down meaning refers to the belief that people and/or phenomenon have an underlying and unchanging 'essence’.” “Here identity exists as a universal and timeless core of self  that we all posses.” Essentialism can often be referred to as the values one holds within themselves as well as their soul or ‘essence’. Essentialism can be found in the image above, the woman image and the use of red, which in some cases can be seen as a colour representing power. Potentially speaking volumes of how the artist views women. Essentialism can be useful to a creative practitioner as a part of their own ‘essence’ can be found in art pieces of their creation, allowing a deeper connection and better understanding for the interpreter.

The perspective of eternity is not a perspective from a certain place beyond the world, nor the point of view of a transcendent being; rather it is a certain form of thought and feeling that rational persons can adopt within the world. And having done so, they can, whatever their generation, bring together into one scheme all individual perspectives and arrive together at regulative principles that can be affirmed by everyone as he lives by them, each from his own standpoint. Purity of heart, if one could attain it, would be to see clearly and to act with grace and self-command from this point of view.
John Rawls, A Theory of Justice (via philosophybits)
Subjectivity- “Subjectivity” implies not just the individuals sense of self, but the ways that sense of self is acted on and even made up by outside forces.” (”Subjectivity”- What is it? The Aporetic, 2014.) Accessed [online http://theaporetic.com/?page_id=2184 (Accessed online, 10th March, 2018)
This short exerpt from: A Theory of Justice, by John Rawls coveys the ideas of the identity and perspectives of individuals do not stem from only one place and a singular thought process. It is our thoughts and feelings that we "Adopt within the world”, that allows us to understand the meaning of our identity and being a person and subject within the world.
