100 Reasons to Study:

I never expected this “reasons to study” thing to get so many submissions, and as it takes me so long to post them all, I decided to do a bulk post of some so here they are:

To prove people that “bad” students can become excellent students too.

To expand your knowledge of the world.

I study because I am privileged enough to have the opportunity. I study because I have no one getting in my way telling me I can’t. I study because I want to do some real good in this world. I study because I live in a country where being female has no significant disadvantage; and so, I take this opportunity so that I may make future opportunities for those who don’t have them. My reason for studying is how I’ll get to where I want to be in my life which is successful, comfortable, and happy.

I study because my grandpa, orphaned during WWII when he was 8, worked 4 days a week in a mine to learn for 2 days. He’s retired after 40 years of working in diplomacy, for the last 5 years as an ambassador. He’s my role model. And I love him so much.

I study because my primary school teacher from when I was 6 replied “Well who would think that?” when my mother informed her I was going to university. I study so I can tell her “Why would you not think that?”

I study because last year I was in a mental hospital for young people and I discovered that I want my death to mean something.

I study because I want to be the first sibling to go straight into uni without transferring from a community college.

I want to study so that I can transfer out from a community college to a really good university so that people won’t think the decision I made to go to community college was bad. Also to make my DAD super proud!

I’m so tired of not passing my tests, of feeling like I don’t know the material. I have testing anxiety which prevents me from doing well. Remember

Assalamualaikum waramatullahi wabarakaatuh.

Hari Jum’at, 10 Maret 2017 sekolahku berjalan seperti biasa. Semua orang sibuk dengan kesibukannya masing-masing. Seperti layaknya murid-murid biasa, aku belajar di kelas dengan guru-guru yang selalu berbagi pengalaman dengan kami. Hari ini pelajaran kimia menjadi waktu bertukar cerita. Bermula dari kami yang meminta Bu Hani untuk menceritakan tentang kiamat, seperti apa yang ibunya ceritakan ke kelas sebelah. Ia mulai perlahan-lahan menceritakan apa yang sedang hangat diperbincangkan. Bukan layaknya gosip, ini adalah perbincangan yang menegangkan. Semua orang di dalam kelas memberikan perhatian penuh kepadanya. Dengan wajah seriusnya, ia mulai menceritakan tanda-tanda kiamat yang membuat kami ketakutan. Satu dua orang sudah mulai menggigir bibir, sedangkan yang lainnya masih serius mendengarkan. Untuk aku yang sudah mendengar sebelumnya dari salah satu murid kelas sebelah tetap dibuat penasaran. Bulpen di tanganku mulai bergetaran. Bagaimana tidak, apa yang diceritakannya benar-benar sudah dekat.

Sebelumnya beliau mengingatkan bahwa Rasulullah pernah mengatakan, “Aku dengan kiamat sedekat ini (Rasul menyatukan kedua jarinya).” Taukah kalian, bahwa saat Rasulullah diutus menjadi nabi saat itu malaikat israfil sudah hampir meniup terompetnya. Posisi ujung terompet sudah berada di mulutnya, malaikat israfil tinggal menunggu aba-aba dari Allah SWT. Karena itu Rasullah mengatakannya, namun kalau ditanya kapan kiamat itu akan terjadi kekasih Allah itu tidak mengetahui kapan kiamat akan terjadi.

Kemudian beliau menyebutkan ciri-ciri kiamat yang sudah banyak terjadi seperti anak-anak membangkang kepada orangtua, pemimpin yang dzolim, banyak bangunan tinggi. Saat ini Arab sedang membangun gedung yang lebih tinggi dari Burj Khalifa. Ciri-ciri kiamat lain ditandai dengan banyaknya wanita yang menyukai musik. Dalam salah satu hadits menyebutkan bahwa nantinya telinga seorang wanita akan ditusuk dengan besi panas. Salah satu sahabat bertanya apa penyebabnya, dan Rasul benjawab bahwa wanita itu sering mendengarkan musik. Naudzubillahimindzalik, semoga kita senantiasa diingatkan oleh Allah SWT ataupun dengan teman-teman disekeliling kita.

Mengeringnya Sungai Ziberias di Israel juga termasuk tanda-tanda kiamat. Tamim Ad-Daariy bersama beberapa orang pernah berjumpa dengan Dajjal. Beliau masuk islam setelah bertemu langsung dengan Dajjal. Saat itu Dajjal menanyakan kabar-kabar kepada Tamim Ad-Daariy serta menyebutkan pula kapan ia akan muncul. Dan saat Sungai Ziberian tersebut Dajjal akan keluar dari tempatnya.

Selain itu, saat ini kita ketahui bahwa meteor-meteor kecil sudah banyak berjatuhan. Dan nanti meteor yang paling besar akan jatuh menghancurkan teknologi-teknologi, semua yang berunsur logam akan hancur. Karena itu, disebutkan dibeberaba sumber bahwa nanti Nabi Isa AS akan membunuh Dajjal dengan tombaknya, bukan dengan teknologi-teknologi yang sekarang tersedia. Beberapa orang bertanya, “Bagaimana dengan uang di bank?” Sedekahkan! Karena dompet pun takkan cukup untuk menyimpan semua itu. Semua harta tak akan dibawa mati, segera tukarkan dengan amal ya kawan! Karena amalmu yang akan menyelamatkanmu dari Dajjal dan api neraka.

Sebelum Imam Mahdi menjadi khalifah akan ada khalifah yang adil dan teguh, yang memimpin Thaif, Makkah, dan Madinah. Imam Mahdi akan menggantikan kedudukannya setelah khalifah tersebut meninggal dunia. Dan setelah diperhatikan, orang-orang mulai menebak-nebak bahwa khalifah tersebut adalah Raja Salman. Raja yang saat ini sedang memimpin di usia 81 tahun itu saat ini sudah menjadi buronan bagi orang-orang yang membencinya. Kalau kita mencari di mana orang yang baik, maka lihatlah kemana arah musuh menyerang.Dan jika memang benar khalifah yang dimaksud adalah Raja Salman, sungguh kita akan segera beranjak ke zaman terakhir. Zaman dimana khalifah yang adil kembali berjaya. Zaman dimana Dajjal muncul untuk menghancurkan umat islam.

Kelak akan muncul asap yang menggelapkan bumi selama 40 hari 40 malam, saat itu orang kafir banyak yang meninggal karena tidak kuat dengan asap tersebut. Dan setelah asap itu akan muncullah Imam Mahdi, manusia terakhir yang akan dibunuh oleh Dajjal. Rumor-rumornya saat ini Imam Mahdi sudah lahir, namun untuk identitasnya disembunyikan oleh keluarganya. Mungkin saat ini sudah terhitung 4-7 tahun, sebentar lagi Imam Mahdi akan beranjak remaja. Itu tandanya Dajjal akan segera datang. Karena saat Imam Mahdi terbunuh pada masa-masa remajanya.

Saat hari pertama Dajjal muncul kita akan merasakan hari itu berjalan seperti satu tahun. Dan hari kedua akan terasa seperti satu bulan, hari ketiga seperti satu minggu, dan hari-hari selanjutnya akan berjalan seperti biasa. Tapi tentu saja Dajjal akan membuat hari kita terasa lebih berat. Keimanan kita akan sangat diuji disana. Saat itu semua orang akan merasakan kekeringan, dan Dajjal akan datang menawarkan air. Dan untuk kita yang beriman janganlah sekali-kali menerima apapun yang ditawarkan oleh Dajjal, karena itu hanyalah hasutan belaka. Agar kita menjadi musrik dan menjadi pengikut Dajjal. Untuk para akhwat, berhati-hatilah karena kebanyakan pengikut Dajjal adalah perempuan. Dan untuk ikhwan, bukannya malah seenaknya berpikir kalian tidak akan dengan mudah terjerumus pada Dajjal, kalian juga bisa menjadi pengikutnya. Maka sama-sama kuatkan iman kita. Ujian keimanan yang besar sudah sangat-sangat dekat. Apa kalian tahu, bahwa Allah sangat tidak menyukai orang yang menjadi kafir karena Dajjal. Maka berhati-hatilah. Perbanyaklah membaca :

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر وأعوذ بك من فتنة المسيح الدجال وأعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا والممات اللهم إني أعوذ بك من المأثم والمغرم

“Ya Allah, sungguh aku berlindung kepada Mu dari siksa kubur. Dan aku berlindung kepada Mu dari fitnah Al-Masiih Dajjal. Dan aku berlindung kepada Mu dari fitnah ketika hidup dan fitnah setelah mati. Ya Allah, sungguh aku berlindung kepada Mu dari dosa dan hutang.” (Al-Bukhari dan Muslim) pada takhiyat akhir setiap salat.

Kita juga bisa memperkuat keimanan dengan berdzikir, berdoa memohon perlindungan kepada Allah dari Dajjal. Memohonlah dengan sesungguh-sungguhnya, seperti layaknya kita tidak bisa melakukannya tanpa bantuanNya. Sebelum berdoa bertaubatlah atas dosa-dosa yang sudah dilakukan sebelumnya, agar doa bisa lebih mudah tersampaikan. Menangislah, karena Allah menyukai seseorang yang menangis karenaNya. In Syaa Allah doa mu akan diijabah olehNya. Jika memang tidak bisa, paksakan karena hakikatnya seseorang yang beriman harus bisa menangis karena Allah. Imannya perlu dipertanyakan jika ia benar-benar tidak menangis. Bahkan jika ia tak bergetar saat mendengar kabar-kabar kiamat. Sungguh dunia ini hanyalah sementara, semua akan sirna pada saatnya.

Orang islam yang keimanannya belum kuat bisa dengan mudah terhasut oleh Dajjal. Apa kamu mau dibenci oleh Allah karena kamu mengikuti Dajjal? Sungguh merugi dirimu jika mau mengikuti Dajjal. Gak ada waktu lagi guys buat nambah keimanan kita. Mau besok besok? Inget ujian terbesar sudah sangat-sangat dekat. Kalau tiba-tiba saja besok Dajjal datang menhampiri, kita bisa apa?

Beberapa sahabat Rasul bertanya, “Apa yang harus kami lakukan, Ya Rasul?” Rasul pun berkata, “segera lakukan amal sholeh hanya itu caranya.” Itulah yang dikatakan Rasul ketika para sahabatnya cemas akan datangnya Dajjal.

Saling mengingatkan, Allah itu Maha Baik. Banyak jalan untuk menambah keimanan. Lakukan amalan-amalan sunnah yang belum kita kerjakan. Tapi disamping kita mengingatkan orang lain jangan sampai kita lupa pada diri sendiri. “(itu) sangatlah dibenci di sisi Allah jika kamu mengatakan apa-apa yang tidak kamu kerjakan.” Kalau diantara kita ada yang salah mohon diingatkan dan dimaafkan. Tak ada ruginya mengingatkan dan saling berbagi cerita atau pengalaman, yang ada adalah kita akan selalu diingatkan agar menjadi lebih baik lagi. Manusia diciptakan untuk menyempurnakan manusia lainnya. Tak ada hambaNya yang sempurna, kesalahan datangnya dari saya sendiri dan kesempurnaan hanya milik Allah SWT. Semoga bermanfaat.
