With 10,000 lakes in this state, it is really no surprise that the lake namers would have run out of good names. When you think that most explorers would have had to cross through Wisconsin before making it into Minnesota territory and we all know that nobody can make it through Wisconsin with any sense of sobriety so I can only imagine the DTs started kicking in about the 3,000th MN lake. This is no doubt about the time they happened across Little Too Much Lake. I grew up on the shore of Lake Superior, so to me Little Too Much Lake's mere 67 acre size and 60 foot depth doesn't really seem like too much at all but this is only the second MN lake that I have posted so "too much... much... too much!!!" hasn't begun to echo in my brain. But we do have 9,998 more lakes to go. Fish hunters can expect a plethora of Bluegill, Northern Pike, and Walleye... probably because those types of fish are in every single one of Minnesota's lakes. There is lore that once a bull shark was spotted this far up the Mississippi River but as far as I know it never made it to Little Too Much Lake or they could have named it Little Too Many Sharks Lake. Little Too Much Lake is located in Itasca county which is up by Bemidji where a lot of the TV series Fargo takes place. Fargo isn't actually in Minnesota. We don't really want it here but we like to name our movies and TV shows after it. Keep in mind that neither Fargo, Bemidji, Brainard, or really any of the locations in the Cohen Bros. works are in Itasca county. It's just that nothing is really there except trees and lakes. Itasca county is also up north near where the Minnesota Shrike may have had a cabin. The Minnesota Shrike was a killer in the Hannibal/Red Dragon series. There is also an actual bird named the shrike, specifically the Northern Shrike, that can be spotted this area and it is a little killer... it's name is derived from the Latin word for "butcher"... so good job Thomas Harris on the name for his killer! The same probably can't be said for whoever named Little Too Much Lake.

And so it begins...
For my new winter project I am going to attempt a daily update about Minnesota's lakes. There are apparently 10,000 of them so this should be a pretty simple goal. Eventually I will turn it into an award winning website since, well, that's what I do... but tonight I can't be arsed to do any of that as I lay in bed pissy that I have restricted myself to eating only plants like a goddamn animal. But, I digress...
Today's Minnesota lake is Full Of Fish Lake, located in Kanabec County, Minnesota. Yes, that is it's actual name... or rather the English translation of it's Ojibwa name. I'd give you the Ojibwa name but my phone's spell-check has already freaked itself out over "Ojibwa" more times in the last minute than I care to admit. It also took me way too long to try to determine if it is actually "Full of Fish Lake" or "Lake Full of Fish" because it is called both... or either.
Full of Fish Lake is 78 acres in size. It is approximately 28 feet deep at its deepest point.
So yeah... just 9,999 more to go!
