They could have spent this season diving into who Mary is as a person but instead they brought in Frank for no reason.

They could have given Toni a storyline, and instead everything about her is still just to further Cheryl’s plots.

They could have done something with Hermosa being the Lodge family’s undoing, and instead they chose to just make Veronica and Hiram fight again, making Hermione sit at the table and say one line if anything at all.

They could have really taken advantage of Alice being the town reporter who is dating the town sheriff, instead they made her have no storyline until they saw an opportunity for her to be mad at Betty’s sex life again for the sake of drama.

They could have really made Penelope and Cheryl bond over the pain of losing Jason, and everything that happened in their family after it, maybe make a start at making amends, instead they made Cheryl have her deceased brother as a housemate and Penelope being a creeper lurking in the walls.

They could have had Polly help her mother and sister take down the farm, could have had her recover from her brainwashing and become a fit mother for the twins, instead they made her “crazy” and she will probably never get out of that hospital.

They could have made Donna a villain without a subplot of her lying about being assaulted by married men to ruin their lives.

They could have had Betty spend her time in therapy dealing with her trauma from the last three seasons, could have touched on her mental health issues and her always having to save the day, even when she shouldn’t have to. Instead they made her therapy session about her mom’s fears of her growing up and having sex.

They could have left Jellybean’s scenes in instead of cutting most of what little she did appear in.

Season 4 really let down women and we aren’t really surprised. Just once again disappointed.

I would like to address something...

A lot of people on here are bashing the Alice and Betty storyline and The Farm storyline. I don’t get it. NOW I fully support bashing the Gargoyle King story line because they lost track of that in like episode 6😂 and that is a poorly crafted plot issue. They should’ve just done the farm. Not both.

Onto the The Farm.

So I don’t know how old some of you guys are Or how aware you guys are with pop culture, societal, historical events. But The Farm is a well crafted plot and Cheryl and Alice are both written very well for someone who joins a cult. I mean if you research any famous cult, ie jones town, wild wild country, Manson, etc. most members abandoned their families and possessions because these cult leaders have preyed on their weaknesses, taps into them so they can seem like a saving grace, a new messiah. A healer. Redeemer. This season the writers have almost perfectly emulated and paid homage to all the famous cults. So if you are just bashing that plot bc you’re mad that your fave characters aren’t interacting that’s exactly what they want you to do. It is infuriating to watch someone so damaged, broken, and vulnerable get lost in a cult because they are so lost from trauma but that’s also the textbook trope of a cult storyline. That’s what happens in real life cult scenarios. Most times it ends in taking your life. Which is kind of what they’ve been doing with the blue lips. Which they will probably tie in at the end. Maybe with Edgar telling The Farm to drink it as the town figures out what he has done. This would be a homage to Jones town. Highly recommend looking it up bc it’s beginning to lean in that direction.

Betty and Alice

Once again, this is how a familial relationship works when one of the members becomes “awake” it’s heartbreaking it’s supposed to be. The love is still there. All the things Alice has done to Betty and vice versa were done with good intentions. Assuming it was right. What Betty did tonight is what all families have to do with cult members because there is no rational reasoning. I thought this was one of the best episodes ever for Alice and Betty. This was a pivotal episode for them. It shows how far they will go for one another. How deep and true their love and bond is.

I don’t get why you guys are even worried about any relationships... they’re foreshadowing every relationship setting up for the next season. Varchie, chonie, bughead, falice, fangs and Kevin. The show would be over if there was no conflict in the world or the relationships.

Betty blatantly stated Alices whole character obstacle for three seasons. Her past.

Toni blatantly told Cheryl her character obstacle for three seasons. The loss of her identity and Jason.

Betty blatantly told Toni her character obstacle for three seasons. Her darkness (mental health), intrusive thoughts.

Ok that was my soap box. I thought this episode was one of the best of the season. I haven’t felt this way SINCE THE PREMIERE. I JUST DONT SEE HOW PEOPLE ARE SAYING THE FARM IS A BAD STORYLINE???

Do you ever just think of these two scenes now and your heart breaks. Because she doesn’t want Betty to be a preppy bitch that lives a lie like she is doing now but she also doesn’t want her to be what she was in HS. All the pain that is staring back at her in both shots!!! She’s trying so hard to make her daughter just do anything other than act exactly like her mother. But Betty has so much of Alices wonderful, strong, independent qualities and she lives her truth, something that Alice hasn’t learned, which as a result will always make it impossible for Alice to stop Betty. Alice wants to run from Alice and perpetuates it on to Betty bc her daughter is everything she wanted to be and still can’t be but is slowly finding it.
