The familiar weight of an arm settling around her shoulders brought a knowing smirk to her face, and she didn’t even have to hear the voice to know it was Evan. Angling towards him, she was already ignoring the other man as if he hadn’t even been there to begin with, so when he cowered down to Evan she didn’t even bat an eye. She briefly turned her head to see his back turning away, but her attention was fast to return to Evan. Truthfully she had been bored of the conversation with the man anyway and Evan was a much more welcome presence. “Took you long enough to finally come over here. Did everyone else head home already?” Most of the company she’d arrived with were Evan’s friends than her own, but she wasn’t all that bothered by it. Having an older brother that she was close to left her used to spending time around the older pureblood crowd, and she had been quick to head off on her own anyway and take over the centre of the dance floor.
However, his comment about the guy who had been chatting with her being a loser caused her to scoff and shake her head. Of course, Evan wasn’t entirely wrong about that, but she wasn’t about to let him know that. “This coming from the guy who just had a girl dangling her boobs in front of his face to cover up the fact that she’s dumb as a post.” She threw back with a slight smirk and shrug. Typically she wouldn’t have cared who was in who’s lap, and she certainly wouldn’t have felt the need to be vocal about it. People were free to do whatever, or whomever, they wished. But something about the women who pursued Evan tended to earn a certain level of disdain from her. She couldn’t quite pinpoint why, but she tried to never let herself dwell on it for long. Evan and her were friends, and they would only ever be friends.
Rolling her eyes at him, Alina smirked and shook her head before downing the rest of her own drink and gesturing to the bartender for a refill. “You say that as if you’d actually let me go home with anyone other than you.” Which Lucius would also not be thrilled about, but that was besides the point. And it wasn’t as if they were spending every night together. Evan was just being a gentleman and making sure she got home alright as her brother would want him to. “Besides, it’s not as if I’ve never spent time around muggles. I go shopping in their boutiques all the time.” The bartender came back around with her refill then, and she turned away from Evan to grab the drink and take a generous sip. “Speaking of home though, you’re not trying to make me leave already, are you? I was just getting my night started.”
Sit Next To Me-Flashback
@alinamalfoyxx
The night was beginning to blur around the edges for Evan Rosier. Where was he? The name was now escaping the twenty-two year old, but it was a loud dimly lit establishment in central London. Red and blue lights set the tone for the wizarding nightclub and as song after song rolled through the playlist Evan began to wonder if it was the same song or if he was going crazy. Either way, it was clear that the alcohol was beginning to set in as his friends seemed to dwindle out. The man who had been sitting to his left all evening, at their table, of course, had just risen resting a hand on Evan’s shoulder as he made his excuses to leave reminding Evan that somewhere in the throngs of people one last person they were responsible for remained.
It had been a few hours since Evan Rosier had so much as thought about where Alina Malfoy could be. She could take care of herself, he knew that much from the last few months of their friendship. He was only lying to himself with the thought he didn’t know where Alina was as his eyes had been unconsciously following her around the crowded room and it only took a moment of him looking from his friend to find her near the bar. The dark-haired witch that had been sitting on his knee for the past hour was now only becoming an annoyance with her pointless conversation and the way she kept trying to kiss him. She knew his name while he still had no clue of hers, and there was no way he’d bring someone like that home because if he did then tomorrow there was no guarantee she would not continue to run his name. And truthfully he didn’t want to have to pull some strings and get the poor girl oblivated just for one night. Instead, he nudged her off his lap and rose from his seat. “Finish the bottle, it’s on me” Evan told her nodding towards the expensive champagne they had been drinking. He had other matters to attend to.
Across the room Evan made his way, slipping past individuals until he was at the bar once more but this time he wasn’t grabbing a drink. His blonde companion was now chatting with another man leaned against the bar. Of course, she was Alina Malfoy and seemed to attract attention no matter the scene. It wasn’t Evan’s duty to keep her from going home with another individual, but he still felt the need to do so. Every time they went out it was the same routine: he’d spend his evening with some girl who he wouldn’t remember the next morning, and eventually make his way over and end whatever Alina was doing across the room. Something in him didn’t like the thought of her spending time with anyone else, nor did he trust any other man than himself to take her home. It was because she was his mate’s sister, obviously.
“Thanks, Mate for keeping her company for me,” Evan told the man as he stepped up behind Alina, his arm comfortably slinking around her shoulders. As the man seemed to shrivel in his presence Evan only puffed up, daring the other man to say something. Instead, as he sulked away Evan turned his attention to Alina, letting go of her to lean against the bar signaling the attention of the bartender. “Why do you always pick losers like that?” he asked her nodding towards his empty glass as he made eye contact with the bartender. “If you want someone that incompetent I can start taking you to muggle clubs instead”. Taking his now full drink Evan took a sip, smirking at Alina over the rim, “Imagine the look on your brother’s face if he found out I let you hang out with muggles. Or worse, let you go home with one”.

Being observant was helpful. Especially when in company. Rodolphus lifted a brow rising his eyes somewhat so he caught the look on her face. It looked dreamlike. Like she was thinking about something she liked or more than that. He couldn’t help but shake his head fondly at her. There was something familiar in the way she shrugged, the picture of nonchalance. At least she wanted him to believe there was nothing special in the way she said the word fiancé. Evan was most certainly a catch for her, he couldn’t deny that.Although every woman would have felt lucky to take hold of a man like him. “I bet,” he drawled, his expression slowly morphing into a pleased little smile. Of course the other man would be into someone who talked back without fearing the consequences. “Nervous yet? I have to say, although you always said you wouldn’t want to marry, you seem to be…” She exuded that glow - of a woman, too happy with herself and the world and how fate turned just so - handling that happiness with care. “Pleased,” he concluded after a breath.
Rodolphus quirked a tired little smile. Golden boy. Poster child. Expectations of being a successful man. Things that people piled onto his shoulders in passing every time they talked and thought he wouldn’t hear them. “No. We wouldn’t want to disappoint all those traditional expectations, would we?” It was a private joke for him. Since when did they care all that much for disappointing anyone?
Thinking the question of whether she was nervous or not through, Alina shrugged gently. “No, not yet. Though I haven't gotten too far into the wedding planning yet so I guess I might be once it starts to become real that it’s happening.” That wasn’t to say she was currently in denial of her wedding; she was far from it. In fact, she was looking forward to marrying Evan. But she wasn’t naive to the fact that as much as she wanted this, nerves could still set in as the day approached. She thrived when she was the centre of attention, but in the context of it being her wedding and her relationship being under scrutiny... Well, she could see how that could be nerve-wracking for her later. But for now she was determined to just enjoy being engaged and worry later on.
Alina laughed at his phrasing of her being pleased and the smile from her laughter remained as she spoke. “What can I say, things worked out better than I had ever dared to hope for. I was only really against the idea of marriage when I thought it was going to be someone my parents arranged for me. I genuinely love Evan so of course I’m happy.” Why she was being so honest with Rodolphus she wasn’t sure, but she just sipped her coffee and quirked a smile at him refusing to dwell on it for long.
“Of course not. Cause you know I’m all about keeping people happy.” Obviously she was joking, and the sarcasm must have been clear in her tone. But he couldn’t be mad when at least she wasn’t sassing him specifically. “Either way, happy birthday, Rodolphus. I didn’t think to bring a present, but perhaps another cup of coffee will suffice for now?” She asked, gesturing to his empty cup still balancing between them.

Alessandra was pleased to not be fussed over – it seemed that she’d had such a great deal of that going on whenever she ventured out in public, which was perhaps why she had not gone out much. It was good for her to have time on her own, but she could appreciate that Severus and Lucius were around if she truly needed something. “That sounds lovely,” she said in response as she leaned back against the booth, her back straight. It took her only a moment to choose what to order – a double espresso – and she nodded.
“That sounds lovely,” she smiled. “I had a few pieces brought from one of my properties.” Oh, it was strange to refer to them as her properties now. Her lips quirked. “But I’d like to make it my own. I have some plans for the rooftop as well. It will be such a lovely terrace. Perhaps even brunch again.” She’d only really had brunch with Lucius and even that wasn’t something she did each week – it was still odd to get back into her routine. “I’d like to perhaps go to Paris next week. Or Marseille, perhaps? Paris is almost too passé, now that everyone can get there so easily.” She sniffed.
It was odd to hear Allie say the phrase ‘my properties’ and not hear Thor’s name tacked in there as well, but Alina didn’t let herself dwell on that for long. It wouldn’t help either of them to reminisce about Thorfinn, and with Allie currently seeming happy she didn’t want to take any chances at ruining that. Maybe one day it’d be okay to talk about him again without any sadness tinging the conversation, but they weren't there yet. So instead she kept her smile in place and nodded along with Allie’s words.
“Of course. It should be unique to you, and I’ve always liked your taste in furniture. Maybe it’ll even give me some ideas for when Evan and I move into a place of our own.” She replied with a shrug. Though the mention of brunch brought a brighter smile to her lips and she nodded. “Yeah, brunch would be great. It’d be nice to have the gang back together again.” She’d never realized how much she loved those Sunday mornings until they stopped happening, and she missed it dearly. That being said she also wasn’t about to rush Allie into it until she was ready. “Paris is almost becoming cliche honestly. Everyone goes and while it’ll always be nice, it’s better when you can go somewhere a little less crowded.”

kingerosier:
There were very few moments in Evan Rosier’s that he could say he was truly terrified. The first when he was a child and nearly drowned after falling over the railing of his father’s boat. The second while at Hogwarts with the sorting hat taking a moment too long to announce his entrance to the Slytherin house, if it had been anything else he wouldn’t have known what to do with himself. The third during the Quidditch World Cup. And finally, right in this moment. The silence hung between the pair for literally seconds but to Evan her silence felt like minutes. She was crying and maybe nodding? Or was she shaking? Was she going to say no? Is that why the tears were coming?
It crossed Evan’s mind in that moment that he hadn’t truly thought of what would happen if she was to say no. The chance was so small considering they had spoken at length on several occasions and she had never seemed opposed, instead excited, about the idea of them moving their relationship along. Engagement was the next true step and if she wasn’t ready to take that step, well Evan wasn’t sure what he would do. It wasn’t just a no that scared Evan, it was what followed that no. If Evan lost her, he lost everything. This had little to do with the embarrassment of being told no, and everything to do with the fact that if she left then he surely would never be the same. The love he experienced for Alina was not something that could be replicated no matter how hard he tried. Life without Alina was not a life Evan Rosier wanted to live.
However his fears were diminished before that nightmare could become a reality. One word and he could breathe again. Yes. She had said yes. At that moment he couldn’t hold it in any longer, the tears in his eyes found their way down his cheeks as his shaking hands slid the ring delicately onto her finger. Evan had spent so long carrying that ring, dreaming of finally giving it to her, but to see it on her hand was more than he could have imagined. It was where the ring rightfully belonged.
“I love you” it was a promise leaving his lips as he captured hers in a second kiss, not wanting to let her get away from him for more than a moment. Pulling her into him Evan’s face rested in her shoulder as he rubbed her back, clinging to the moment. Absorbing everything that had just happened in the last five minutes. This was a moment that Evan did not want to forget because he was certain there would be few times after this that he was this elated.
For a man who had never any intention to marry or settle down Evan sure seemed happy with the current situation. And that had nothing to do with his morals and everything to do with the girl. The idea of marriage and binding oneself to another individual forever had been scary before Alina. Evan was sure he was left to the fate of some girl who would spend his money and probably sleep with his friend. It was the fate his father had fallen into and it was one that Evan felt was his future. And then Alina had appeared. She wasn’t just some girl. She was his friend and his confidante. No one knew him better than she because she cared about him. Their marriage would not be loveless and empty but full of happiness and promise.
Finally releasing Alina, Evan stood capturing her face between his hands as he beamed down at her. “I couldn’t have proposed in Iceland” he told her, “I didn’t want to propose to Alina Malfoy, and short of waking you up in the middle of the night I knew I wasn’t going to get to propose to my Alina. This is who I want to marry, this is who I wanted to propose to” pressing his lips gently to her forehead Evan finally dropped his hands from her cheeks. It was true, if Evan Rosier was going to get married he wanted it to be to his best friend not to the pretty girl everyone else saw. Over the last few years Evan had gotten to see the Alina that no one else was allowed. The one that had spots and got aggravated when woken up too early, the one who would unceremoniously scarf down an entire plate of chicken nuggets on their couch. It was not that Evan did not want the Alina Malfoy everyone else knew because he did. It was easy to love someone with perfect skin and long eyelashes. The girl that made him the envy of his friends and strangers alike. That was the girl that others were in love with. It was in falling in love with the other Alina that separated Evan from any other suitor. He loved every moment of her. He wanted every moment of her.
“I won’t tell anyone you cried if you don’t tell them I did” Evan joked wiping his eyes and letting out a laugh. Their close friends wouldn’t believe that considering he had cried practically every time he brought up getting engaged, but it was still the thought. The lights danced off of the glittering of her ring catching Evan’s eye and causing his heart to soar. They’d actually done this. They were actually getting married. “My parents aren’t going to believe this, they’re going to think I’m joking when I tell them” Evan chuckled, sliding a hand through his dark hair. “I don’t think they ever thought I’d do this-I don’t think I ever thought I’d do this. Pretty sure they assumed they’d have to either drug me or I’d have to knock someone up to get married” and it wasn’t far from the truth, before Alina those would have been the only ways to get him to this level of commitment. “Turns out all I needed was you”.
“I love you too.” Returning his kiss, Alina smiled and wrapped her arms around him as he pulled her in close. There was nothing she wanted more than to stay like that as long as they could, wrapped in the comfort of his arms and feeling his breath on her collarbone. Her eyes slid closed and she held onto him, her fingers sliding into his hair. They were actually doing this. They were actually going to get married. Before Evan the thought of being engaged and getting married would have absolutely terrified her. Now she just wanted to soak as much of the moment in as she could, realizing that it was unlikely she was going to be this elated again until the actual day of their wedding.
As he stood her hands slid down to wrap her arms around his waist and she looked up at him, her lips quirking into a brighter smile at Evan’s mention of ‘his Alina’. She’d never given it much thought before, but Evan was privy to the side of her she didn’t allow many to see. Over the years of their friendship and then months of their relationship she’d grown to feel safe and comfortable around him in a way she didn’t around anyone else. She knew it was okay to not constantly be the very definition of perfection when she was around him. It was okay to lounge around the flat in one of his t-shirts and no makeup, or cry during the sappy parts of movies, or eat more than she would ever allow herself to in public, all the while knowing he wasn’t going to think any differently of her for it. “You know, you could have just not dropped hints about it then. I spent most of that trip waiting for you to propose.” But even as she said that she was smiling to show she wasn’t actually mad or upset about how the events unfolded.
“Your secret is safe with me.” She replied with a soft laugh and shook her head, swiping at her own cheeks to erase the tear streaks. “Though if anyone happens to ask, I can’t promise they’ll believe me when I say no.” Alina had never been one to get caught up in her emotions and actually cry. It wasn't the way of pureblood women to be open with their feelings often, and it hadn’t taken much for Alina’s mother to convince her of this. In her twenty-one years she could probably count on one hand the number of times someone had actually caused her to cry, and none of them were the happy tears she had just wiped away. But she had no control over it this time, and really it was just another testament to how comfortable she felt with Evan. The fact that she wasn’t particularly fussed about him seeing her with tears on her face spoke volumes of how much she trusted him.
“Well that makes two of us then because until you I never thought I’d have it in me to say yes to anyone. Actually, I didn’t even think I was ever going to be properly proposed to. I just assumed my parents would tell me over dinner that I was getting married to some guy they had arranged.” Alina was incredibly lucky in the fact that her parents had been giving her time to enjoy her youth and had pushed off arranging a marriage for her, but she had always been aware that one day they would decide it was time. She had been fighting that for years and denying any suitors they had so much as brought up to her. And in that time of stubbornly trying to remain alone, she ended up finding her perfect person. There was nothing more that she wanted now then to spend the rest of her life with Evan. Which reminded of something he had said and she couldn’t just let it go.
“Oh, and for the record Ev, you didn’t need to say anything to convince me to spend my life with you. I already wanted to, and have for months.” If she was being honest it was more like years as her feelings for him had grown, but that was besides the point now. “Honestly, you could have dropped to one knee in the kitchen and held up one of those candy ring pop things the muggles have and I still would have said yes. I just need you to be happy.”
I’d do anything | Evan & Alina

It felt like minutes, although it must have been only seconds in which he practically glared at her with his icy stare. It intensified slightly and one got the impression of lightning cracking through the sky when they glanced at him. A group of overprotective mothers herded their kids in a neat circle around them, pointedly avoiding their kids stepping too close to an invisible line. Rodolphus was clearly sporting the ‘don’t touch here’ look that send them skittering. Alina was probably used to seeing it and seemed to finally comply with his request. It soothed his mood somewhat, although he still felt displeased by her earlier actions. It showed in the way he righted his posture and kept those few inches of distance between them. “Sassiness isn’t getting you anywhere,” he stated flatly.
That attitude was definitely a Malfoy trademark. Even Lucius had snarking down to an art. But her brother was a bit more diplomatic about it. She still sounded like she would rather be doing something else entirely. “Quite pleased,“ he finally allowed, but his face couldn’t be bothered to show that.
His birthday. Rodolphus flicked his gaze down to his cup, now empty and sat it down on the edge of the bench, carefully balancing the too light weight of it. “It’s a day like any other.” It was a cryptic answer, but then again, he felt that there was enough frustration raging behind his stoic facade that she would get the drift.
At least he was no longer looking at her like he was seconds away from throttling her. As much as Alina had no problem testing the limits of those around her, she was smart enough to know when enough was enough. Her mother had made sure to instil being observant of others at a young age and while she used the skill to occasionally cause trouble, it was helpful in situations like this. “I wouldn’t necessarily say that.” She replied with a one shouldered shrug. “It may not get me anywhere with you, but I’m fairly certain my sense of sarcasm played at least a small role in winning over my fiancé when he and I first met.” It was still odd to say she had a fiance given her previous track record of claiming she was never marrying until she was forced into it. But now the word brought a smile to her face if only because as soon as she said it she thought of Evan.
Leaning back to rest against the back of the bench, she crossed her legs taking a moment to rearrange the fabric of the skirt over her thighs. Once her eyes flicked back up to him her brows momentarily furrowed but her expression smoothed out quickly as she remembered just who she was talking to. Rodolphus had never seemed the type to care much about birthdays or the parties associated with them. “I’m sure your mother would disagree with that sentiment, you being her golden child and all. But I guess that means you don’t want me to say happy birthday then?”

Whatever impulses he had suppressed to react involuntarily to her comments for any reason… she didn’t have any qualms about showing that she was clearly annoyed. That smile was so sweet he thought that a blind would pick up on its existence. Huh. “Nobody asked.” He answered skeptically. Somehow he wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to continue this conversation. Alina was clearly not in the mood to listen to him and Rodolphus himself wasn’t in the mood to correct the manners of a disobedient child.
When she turned around he emptied his cup. Now, he could get up and just leave. This wasn’t an argument worth the air they wasted on it. If she wanted to play at kindergarten then she was talking to the wrong person. “Alina,” he growled warningly, like a parent berating their child. He was laying every ounce of his intent behind the word. The tone was sharp and bitingly cold. If she didn’t react to it, it was her loss.
For a moment, Alina did hold her tongue. She sipped her coffee and flicked her eyes back to him, taking in his annoyance at her refusal to succumb to his attempt at intimidation. A smirk tugged up the corners of her lips now indicating she was pleased with herself. “Yes, that is my name. Glad to hear you remember it.” Her tone was much lighter now, even somewhat pleasant. Certainly miles away from the sharpness she’d been using moments ago.
She wasn’t naive to the coldness in his voice. He was verging close to anger, if he wasn’t already there. As much as she didn’t particularly care, her mother would if she heard about it and she wasn’t in the mood for any lectures. Sighing softly, Alina finally complied with what he wanted, moving from the path to the bench and sitting down though leaving a fair amount of distance between herself and Rodolphus still. “Happy now?” She asked with a quirked brow. “For someone who’s supposed to be celebrating a birthday you’re awfully sour. Did someone spit in your coffee or something?”

wintermacnair:
She’d been napping, or at least trying too. Sleep did not come easy these days, her mind so wrapped up in maintaining the lie and keeping herself from feeling the pangs of loneliness. Winter was on her couch, and her cat Summer was being sweet for once. The snapdragon post had been harmless, she’d decided, she did not need to hide her couch or cat, and after hitting send, she’d sank back into the pillows.
The knock at the door startled her, and Winter was awake and on her feet with her wand in hand in a flash. Her wards had not gone off, so it was not a stranger, but still, she felt a sense of unease. No one showed up unannounced anymore, no one who knew what she was doing at least. Scooping up the cat and cradling him to her chest, Winter crossed the room to peer through the peephole.
Alina.
Fuck, she should have known her friend was far to smart to keep putting up with half ass excuses and shadier more obscure meeting points. Winter still did not know what to tell her. With a sigh she opened the door, and smiled sleepily. Alina looked impeccable as always, but Winter was disheveled, in an oversized Ravenclaw shirt she’d stolen from Augustus and leggings, her feet bare on the hardwood.
“Hi Alina! Come in, is that coffee for me?” She quickly shut the door behind the blonde, a careful glance that the hallway was empty. “What’s up?”
While Alina waited for Winter to come to the door her fingers started tapping on one of the cups. She was never known for her great patience level, and while it didn’t actually take Winter all that long to open the door it felt longer to her. When the door did open and revealed a visibly tired Winter she felt a momentary flash of guilt at having woken her up, but that was shoved aside when she remembered the reason she was there in the first place.
Winter’s greeting was relatively cheery and what she would have expected from her weeks ago, but now Alina wasn’t sure whether to be glad or even more concerned. Entering the apartment, she turned just in time to take notice of Winter glancing down the hallway before she closed the door and she raised an eyebrow. However, she managed to refrain from commenting on that and merely forced a soft smile. “Hi, Winter.”
Following the question about the extra cup in her hand Alina nodded and held out one to Winter, making sure it was the one without the red lipstick mark on the lid. “I wouldn’t just show up empty handed. Honestly I considered bringing wine, but figured it might be a little too early for that.” And besides, she wanted Winter to tell her the truth because they were friends and she genuinely wanted to tell her, not because she was intoxicated.
Sighing softly when Winter asked what’s up, Alina debated for a moment how quickly she wanted to address the situation. It was probably better to just rip the bandage off and ask what she wanted to ask. There was no sense in dancing around the reason she had come. “What’s up is that you’ve been avoiding me and acting strange. Did you really think I wasn’t going to notice it?”

Alina could hear voices outside her door, though they were muffled to the point that she didn’t immediately recognize a voice and therefore cared little for what was going on. She was too busy reading through her emails to concern herself with it. The secretary stationed outside could handle whatever was going on. She did however glance up and her brows momentarily furrowed when the door swung open and Severus was suddenly approaching her desk.
If it was anyone else trying to imitate her she may have been grossly offended. Instead her expression landed somewhere between shock and amusement at Severus’ behaviour, and she eventually cracked into soft laughter when he finally dropped it. “What can I say, it’s a gift.” She said with a one shouldered shrug, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips now. “I have to say though, I’m rather impressed you managed to do that. You should try that on Luc sometime.”
Catching his mentioning of the ring, Alina’s smile widened considerably. Severus had never cared about her jewelry before so the only one he could be speaking of now had to be the one sitting on her left ring finger. “Why only hear about it when you can see it?” And with that she raised her hand in his direction, holding it just right so the diamonds surrounding the opal would catch the light.
“I don’t care if she isn’t expecting company,” Severus hissed at the secretary, a scowl creasing his lips when the woman crossed her arms and didn’t step aside. “She will be happy I came uninvited and will likely end up scolding you for keeping me from her.”
He was fixed with a glare then the woman shuffled aside, Severus making a point to burst through the door and rush up to Alina’s desk. He gave a glance around then promptly sat on the edge of the blonde’s desk. A wide grin spread over his lips.
“Lina darling,” He exhaled and put on his best excited look. It was hard to keep it up but he needed to let it remain long enough for her to get a taste of her own medicine. “It’s been far too long. We haven’t done lunch in weeks and I am dying to hear about the ring. Why haven’t you —“ His attempt at seeming cheerful was quickly losing steam. The grin faltered before he continued. “Bloody hell, Alina, how do you keep that up every time see you?”

ar-goddessofthunder:
It was good for Allie to get out of the house. Though she’d ventured out more than she had originally, she still mainly kept to herself. While she lived with Lucius – though with was a rather loose term, she supposed, and she wasn’t sure how long it would be the case – it was rare if she saw him more than the early mornings and late evenings. She’d seen Alina quite infrequently and even then, they’d barely had time to do more than exchange greetings and goodbyes. She’d left the house with enough time to walk to the restaurant, needing a good bit of exercise after the previous day spent inside with the dog.
Her hair was perfectly coiffed and her dress was tailored, though it was admittedly loose on her body, Alessandra having lost some weight in recent weeks. Her smile was genuine as she noticed Alina sitting already and she hugged the other woman before sitting down in the booth across from her friend. “Oh, it’s alright,” she said with a wave of her hand. “There’s not a great deal that keeps me busy right now, so I’m happy to get out for lunch and perhaps a little bit of shopping. There are so many furnishings I need to decide upon.” While Allie had had art pieces put into the loft space from her other properties, as well as some temporary furniture, she wanted something new and still wanted to choose new décor and furniture.
Alessandra looked impeccable as she always did in public, but that didn’t mean Alina didn’t notice the physical changes that most have happened over the past weeks. Her dress, one that Alina could recall seeing her in before, didn’t seem to be fitting quite the way it used to on her waist. While she was somewhat concerned, she held her tongue and tried not to show it. Allie deserved, and most likely needed, a day of relaxation and fun. She was smiling right now, and Alina was not going to be the one who ruined that for her. Besides, there was always time for Alina to be fussed and worried later.
Returning to her seat, Alina smiled at Allie and nodded along with what she was saying. “Oh, of course! You know I’d never turn down a chance to shop with you, furniture or otherwise.” She paused her response when a waitress approached their table to take drink orders. After ordering a coffee for herself she waited for Allie to order her own drink before sending the waitress off with a polite smile. “Actually, now that I think of it, there’s a shop I was in a few days ago and they had some really nice couches. Neutral tone so they'd fit any room colour and easy to spruce up with the right throw pillows. We could always stop there if you’d like?”

kingerosier:
Lies. Was it a lie if it was for a good reason? The patio swing didn’t exist and her favorite movie was actually playing on television. The food should have only taken fifteen minutes but Evan had purposely scheduled it for much later. A web of lies was beginning to form and it all culminated in the biggest lie he had not told Alina: not yet.
Watching as Alina fetched a sweater Evan finally felt the weight of what was happening. There was no going back now that he had mentioned the roof. There was no changing his mind. There was no more preparing. Not yet had turned into now, and now was going to turn into forever. This was it. This was his one shot to get this perfect. All his mornings spent rehearsing what to say in the roar of the shower. All his afternoons spent looking at the ring dreaming of what it would look like on her hand. All of his dreams, wishes, and hopes were about to either come true or come crashing down around him. This was it.
It was more than just a proposal. Evan was not just putting a ring on her finger for duty, he was pledging his life to her. He faced the Dark Lord on a regular basis but it was nothing in comparison to the sickness his stomach felt now. In sickness and in health, in good and in bad: with a ring on her finger there was no turning back. Was he ready to give up his single life? Was he ready to settle down? Was he ready to give up the fight and accept his pureblood calling as a husband and eventual father?
Taking the sweatshirt Alina handed to him Evan shrugged it on praying that he didn’t look too noticeably ill. “Yeah, after me” swallowing hard Evan felt his mouth go dry as he made his way to the staircase to the roof. One step, two steps, three steps, four. Five, six, seven, eight steps, and this was it. Stepping onto the roof Evan was immediately met with relief that his house elf had delivered as promised. The setting sun was barely visible over the rooftop’s edge and the normal fairy lights were strung around the perimeter, glowing in the dusk. That was the only recognizable piece left of the rooftop as his house elf, and hired florists, had transformed the rest into a sea of flowers. Peonies, tulips, roses, lilacs, hydrangeas, and cherry blossoms were arranged in an array of whites and pale pinks covering every square inch of the rooftop. There had to be thousands and it looked better than Evan could have imagined. The perfect backdrop for the most monumental moment of Evan’s life.
If Evan had been surprised by the scene before him then Alina had to be stunned. Written across her face was the look that Evan had been aiming for, the look that Iceland would have never produced. He had to move quick before everything registered and before she could speak. If she spoke it would ruin everything and Evan would lose his nerve. All his hard work would have been in vain if he did not get the first word in. This was his moment. Alina Malfoy, you are my-the words began playing through Evan’s head as he stepped towards her-best friend-down onto one knee he fell taking her hand in his trying to ignore the fact that even on bended knee he was almost taller than her standing still. Looking into her eyes and then…..
It all went blank.
The speech Evan had meticulously planned and practiced for weeks was suddenly nowhere in his memory. There was no recollection of even writing a speech. Had he prepared? What did prepare mean? The ever outspoken Evan Rosier couldn’t even remember her name in that moment as he stared into her eyes. It was as if someone had just obliviated him while on bended knee. If it were not for the racing of his heart and the swell of butterflies in his stomach he would have sworn this moment belonged to someone else. Someone smarter. Someone kinder. Someone more worthy of her. But this was not someone else’s moment, this was his. His and Alina’s and though he may never be any of those things, there was one thing Evan knew in his befuddled state and that was that no one could ever love her more than he did in that moment.
“Alina-Al-A” stuttering over his words Evan wanted to melt into the ground. Fuck. Swallowing the lump in his throat Evan could feel the inevitable prickle of tears. Merlin. Fuck. Not now. Crying was not-”I don’t know what to say” wow the first coherent sentence he could muster didn’t make him sound too confident in this proposal, merlin this was a shit show. “I don’t know what to say because I forgot what I was going to say. I had a plan and notes, Merlin, I took notes. But now I can’t even remember what I took notes on. I just know that until this second I don’t think I ever truly processed that this would actually be happening” Evan told her, “What do you say to convince someone to spend the rest of their life with you? Sure I have money and I have a good name, and you are the most stunning girl I’ve laid eyes on and our children will be nothing short of flawless but let’s cut the bullshit because that’s not why we’re here, is it?” he asked, “If money and name meant anything to you, you would have married years ago. And if beauty and heirs meant anything to me I would have done similar. I’m not on bended knee as Evan Rosier heir to my father’s fortune, and I’m not proposing to the image of perfection Alina Malfoy. I’m just a man who is in love with a girl. A girl with freckles and red cheeks, a girl who wearing my old shirt looks just as beautiful as the first time I laid eyes on her. I’m just a man, and I am asking you to take me as I am right now because there is no one I need more than what you are right now. I can promise you a lot of things but the most important of them all is that I will always love you as you are, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, until death do us part. Just you. Only you. Forever.” pausing Evan pulled the ring from his pocket and holding it up to her he spoke once more “So I guess what I’m trying to ask is, Alina Malfoy, will you marry me?”
Following Evan up the steps to the rooftop, Alina was glad she’d thought to grab a sweater after all. The chill from the door opening caused her to shiver slightly and she paused to shrug the sweater on before coming out onto the rooftop and almost immediately halting as she took in the scene before her. The patio swing she was supposed to be looking at was absent, but that was barely a blip in her mind. Her eyes floated around the rooftop taking in the sight of the flowers that looked so meticulously arranged. Who knew how long it must have taken to make sure every piece of the roof was covered. Her lips parted to speak, but she couldn’t register anything to say. It was amazing and her awe must have been evident on her face. However, when she turned to Evan for some kind of explanation it quickly turned to shock and she inhaled a sharp gasp of air.
There were not many moments Alina Malfoy could be rendered speechless. She almost always had some kind of quip ready on her tongue for any given situation. But as her eyes followed Evan as he dropped to one knee, she truly had no idea what to say or even how to form words. She had known this was coming at some point. They had already spoken at great lengths about marriage. But that didn’t stop her from being in shock that he was actually proposing at that very moment. If her lips weren’t still parted they would have quirked at the corners at the fact that Evan had once again managed to surprise her when she least expected it.
When he admitted to taking notes she couldn’t help but to laugh a little. It came out breathy and short as she was still trying to catch her breath from the shock of what was happening. But for a moment there all she imagined was Evan lounging around writing up a speech, and her heart swelled at the thought. Obviously because it’s Evan she had known he was going to plan it out and make sure it was memorable, but she hadn’t considered he would actually write his speech out and rehearse it. She’d never loved him more than she did then and the same tears she had noticed in his eyes now prickled at the corner of her own. After a few rapid blinks her tears fell onto her cheeks but she made no attempt to wipe them away. All her attention was focused on him, and looking down at him she hung on to his every word.
Her free hand floated up at some point to cover her mouth, but behind it a smile was forming. This was it. This was their moment. Months ago she had sworn up and down to anyone that would listen that she wasn’t getting married until she was at least thirty. She had sworn it to Evan back when they were still trying to pretend they didn’t have feelings for one another. Yet there she was, completely ready to say yes to what was turning out to be the perfect proposal. It was nothing like what she had always envisioned growing up, but somehow that made it all the better. It wasn’t some grandiose public gesture that others may have been expecting from them, especially considering how public practically every other aspect of their lives were. This was just them, private and stripped down to their most comfortable state.
They were a pureblood couple in the very top reaches of society, but Evan was right in his saying that at this very moment they weren’t a Rosier and a Malfoy. They were just Evan and Alina. And the answer she was dying to blurt out had nothing to do with her duty, nothing to do with what was expected of her as pureblood woman. It instead had everything to do with an all encompassing love for the man in front of her.
Looking down at the ring Alina gasped for the second time. The opal sitting in the centre shined and the diamonds surrounding it caught the fairy lights, gleaming beautifully. They’d had talks of marriage and a proposal for a little while now, but in all those conversations she hadn’t mentioned the type of ring she wanted. Honestly he could have held up a candy ring and she still would have said yes. The only time she could recall mentioning her love of opals was months before they had even considered becoming a couple let alone getting engaged. Maybe it was just the current heightened emotions of the moment, but Alina couldn’t help allowing a few more tears to streak down her cheeks at the fact that he had actually remembered after all this time.
Those four little words were just coming out of his mouth and already Alina was enthusiastically nodding. Her hand finally dropped from her lips so her answer wouldn’t be muffled. “Yes!” It came out much weaker at first than she wanted it to. Damn crying stealing her voice when she needed it most. Pausing for a second, she swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat while he had been talking and took a breath before trying again. “Of course I’ll marry you! Nothing would make me happier.” A blinding smile lit up her face, and she allowed him a moment to slip the ring on her finger before she pulled her hand from his grasp only for her hands to find the sides of his face instead. She leaned down and kissed him, pulling away so she could speak again but leaving her forehead resting against his. “I love you so much, Evan. I’m also definitely not disappointed anymore that you didn’t propose in Iceland.” She laughed after she said it and her shoulders shook slightly, though whether that was from the laughter or the crying was anybody’s guess.

kingerosier:
Things were happening at lightning speed. Barely just a few months ago Evan Rosier was a bachelor with no end game in sight. Now he was minutes from being engaged and weeks from buying a house with said girl. It was daunting, to say the least. But that’s how things worked in pureblood society. Things were not allowed to linger and slow relationships were often looked down upon. It was a wonder that up until this point Evan had escaped his parents arranging a marriage, but he knew when news spread of his engagement they would be more than satisfied with his decision.
A name was everything when you were a pureblood. If you didn’t have the name then you didn’t have the notoriety or the power. Some names were better than others and it was important to the older generation to continue those strong names. Evan had been bred his entire life to take over his father’s empire and settle down with an acceptable match and suddenly that was happening. A Rosier and a Malfoy, Merlin couldn’t have planned better if he had tried. Evan was getting the pretty, obedient pureblood wife to give him an heir for his family, and Alina was getting a strong, powerful husband to secure her comfortable lifestyle. Or at least that’s how it would look on paper and to the societal elders that actually cared about these things.
What was failed to be recognized was that their union was not brought about like their parents, through a meticulously planned arrangement, but mutual infatuation that had grown into a bond. Evan wasn’t just marrying someone who would look nice on his arm and give him a child, he was marrying his best friend and someone he cared deeply about. Until this point Evan had evaded marriage and he would not be on the verge of proposing if his feelings for Alina were not something he felt were real. If he had wanted to marry to fulfill his duties as a pureblooded male then he would have done that ages ago, this was everything but duty.
Evan wanted to spend his life with Alina. There wasn’t anyone else he wanted to laugh with or cry with or experience life with. It wasn’t even a thought in his head that there could be someone else out there that could make him feel more human than Alina did, because as far as Evan was concerned there was not. Just being in her presence was a better feeling than anything Evan could imagine the first twenty odd years of his life before he found himself in love with Alina Malfoy. She made his life worth something.
As Alina finished up in the bathroom, Evan sent a quick message to their realtor about the next day. “Notting Hill would be close enough to the important things, without being near too many muggle tourists” Evan explained as he set his phone down, “There’s also a house in Wimbledon Village I asked Gregory to get us a showing at. 6 bedrooms, so nice size for our first house, and it’s a standalone with a garden”. So far the majority of their looking had been at town homes but the thought of a standalone house was not something that Evan had shut out completely, it would be nice not having to deal with muggles at all nor worrying about neighbors while staying within London.
Standing up from his spot on the edge of the tub Evan led the way out of their bedroom, grabbing their television remote and feigning as if he was looking for something to watch. After a minute he threw it down, letting it land on his couch before turning back to Alina “Maybe after dinner something better will be on?” he asked, shrugging. “Actually, I wanted to show you something on the roof. They delivered that patio swing I ordered, yesterday while you were napping. I need your opinion on whether the colour is right or not”.
Everything about Alina and Evan’s relationship had moved rather quickly since that first evening in a tent in Marseilles. They were caught up in a whirlwind, but oddly enough when she stopped to think about that she never found the pace to leave her breathless. She had been happier in the past months than she had ever dared to think was possible. Besides she had known what she was getting into. Things never moved slow for purebloods, especially those of her and Evan’s status. Hunting for a home this early into the relationship was to be expected of them, and she presumed they’d be getting engaged sometime in the near future. They’d already discussed it at length and Evan knew her feelings on the matter. While she had thought it was going to happen over their trip, clearly Evan was taking his time to plan something out.
Most of the places on their list of options so far seemed to be townhouses, and Alina honestly wasn’t all that fussed about it. She was just happy about them getting a place of their own. There were pros and cons to any type of home, but the idea of a standalone piqued her interest and Alina smiled. “Oh, I would love the privacy of that. Though fair warning, I’m awful at gardening so if we went with that place we’d have to hire someone to tend to that.” Waking up first thing in the morning and getting to look over a garden of flowers did have a certain charm to it though, not to mention the photos she’d be able to get out of that.
Trailing after him, she paused briefly to flick off both the bathroom and bedroom lights so by the time she reached the living room he was already flipping through the movie channels. Perching on the smaller of the two couches, Alina patted her lap and smiled when Princess came trotting through the room and jumped up to join her. Because of her focus being more centred on the cat now curled up in her arms, she hadn’t paid much attention to the movies that he had been flipping through. But his comment and hearing the remote landing on the other couch gained her attention again and she glanced up. “Hm? Oh, yeah. That’s fine, later evening is usually better for movie picks anyway.”
If she was being honest, she had entirely forgotten that Evan had even ordered a patio swing. He had probably told her about it at some point, but she still looked at him with slightly furrowed brows for a moment as she tried to remember what exactly he was talking about. That is until she decided she wasn’t overly concerned with whether or not she had known and shrugged that off. All that mattered now was that it was the right shade to coordinate with the other decor already up there, and she always did have a keen eye for noticing the subtle differences in shades. It was that very reason Lucius and her mother used to call her in to consult on clothing even before she had started agreed to officially work at the magazine.
“Sure, just let me grab a sweater first. Do you want one too?” Walking backward Alina disappeared into the hallway for a moment, pulling one of her thinner sweaters out of the closet and grabbing one for him just in case. It hadn’t been too bad when she had been out less than an hour ago, but with the sun going down shortly it was bound to cool down quick and their busy schedules wouldn’t allow time to lounge around and recover from a cold. Returning with the sweaters both draped over her arm, she smiled and nodded toward the stairs leading up to the rooftop. “After you.”
I’d do anything | Evan & Alina

He wasn’t exactly irritated, but he wasn’t in the best of moods. There was nothing else saying ‘hey, I want to be talked to’ than being occupied with drinking some coffee in an eco-friendly cup and looking at a small crowd, or lack thereof, when he watched the park slowly being filled with the odd family with kids or so. Sighing deeply inside his mind he wasn’t even visibly impressed with the biting words the woman threw back at him.
At closure inspection he recognized her from somewhere though he wasn’t as keen on going deeper into that small detail. He just instantly dismissed the information that she looked a lot like her brother - a Malfoy. Rodolphus wasn’t ignorant, but almost a bit too aware who was connected to which family, so he instantly knew who she was.
With a slight shrug he leaned back on the bench, sipping on his black coffee. “Don’t know what gave you that impression,” he grumbled back. “I’m just stating the obvious. You’ve been standing there for much too long.” He wanted to add a small insult at the end of that sentence, but he was feeling generous and spared himself the argument he would probably get pulled into. He even resisted the impulse to roll his eyes at her, just regarding her with a wary, almost intimidatingly deep look in his eyes.
It would have been much easier to simply move along or take a seat on the bench as he had suggested and put an end to the affair. But as much as Alina liked to deny it, though her family would likely confirm it, she had quite the stubborn streak and had never properly learned when to back down. While his comment in and of itself was relatively harmless, the tone behind it grated her nerves and she couldn’t stop herself from responding.
“Gee, thank you so much for making me aware of that, Rodolphus. Though last I checked I hadn’t asked for your opinion on how long I’ve been here.” The sarcasm came easy to her tongue and she flashed one of her famous sickly sweet smiles for good measure. Flicking her eyes over him in a brief once over, Alina just barely managed to control her desire to roll her eyes. Instead she sighed softly and tore her attention away from him, turning back to the flowers with a smirk resting on her lips. “If I so desire to stand here all day, I will. And no offence, but it’s really not my problem if that bothers you.”
#i: rodolphus#// oh for sure!#// she's either gonna end up respecting him for his willingness to throw her banter right back at her#// or she'll be hella irritated#// either way i have feeling they'll be fun <3

kingerosier:
Merlin, he could have proposed right then.
If there was a reason that Evan was practically dying to get a ring on her finger it had to be this. No it wasn’t the bag of chicken nuggets, nor the green tea in her hand. That meant something, but not everything. They were representative of a bigger fact and that was there was no one who cared more about him than Alina Malfoy. It was one thing to remember his birthday, or to remember that he had a pet cat. Many girls didn’t know much deeper than that about him. And here was Alina Malfoy, whom most called self absorbed, remembering to pick up his favorite things without him even needing to ask. Sure snacks and tea were trivial things but the meaning behind it was anything but trivial.
“You remembered” the smile on Alina’s face was infectious causing Evan to mirror the silly grin. Taking the green tea, his free hand found the small of her back pulling Alina closer to steal a kiss through his grinning. “Go get changed. I’ll put the rest of the groceries away and order dinner. I thought we’d stay in tonight. Maybe watch a movie, take a bath, and a few other things I’m sure we can come up with” he winked before kissing her once more and letting go of her.
When Alina didn’t fight him on the matter Evan felt as if maybe he was getting away with this whole plan. Maybe just maybe luck was on his side. Heading back to the kitchen he put away the rest of the groceries and quickly fed all the animals before placing a delivery order to the flat. He didn’t have much time at this point until everything was going to happen. All he needed at this point was….patting his pocket Evan felt the ring and let out a sigh of relief. He’d been carrying it with him everywhere the last few weeks and it had become a habit checking to make sure it was still with him. Tonight was the most important time to have it on him, however, he couldn’t propose without a ring.
It hadn’t really crossed Evan’s mind that this was happening tonight. He had spent so much time pushing it off that it hadn’t quite registered that by the end of tonight he we essentially pledging to spend the rest of his life with Alina. That thought, in itself, wasn’t scary. He knew he wanted to spend the rest with Alina, it was more the fact that it was official. It was one thing to say it to her, another thing to think it, and even saying it out loud to their friends wasn’t a big deal. However there was now going to be a ring involved and with a ring came everyone knowing his true intentions. One look at Alina Malfoy and one would know where Evan’s feeling stood with her, all they had to do was look at her left hand. It was that thought that worried him a little, just the finality of his actions.
Honestly, it was better that he hadn’t registered all of it yet. Evan Rosier was a worrier whether he liked to admit it or not. It had taken him years to pluck up the courage to tell Alina of his feelings. Meanwhile they’d obviously been more than friends for quite some time and if he had truly just relaxed he would have been able to figure out her feelings sooner. But the problem was he couldn’t relax. The thought of telling her had petrified the man who prided himself in being fearless. It was why he refused to let his mind wander that far right now. If he thought too hard he might chicken out and not because he did not want this, but fear for her reaction.
Any outsider could tell you that Alina was going to say yes. Everything about them as a couple screamed that they were happy. She had no conceivable reason to say no and they had many conversations by this point about getting married. Evan knew her stance and knew that Alina was fully on board to marry him. But there was still an illogical portion of Evan that didn’t believe it. That thought this must all be a joke of some sort. How could Alina Malfoy be into him? It was that thought that crept into Evan’s mind on occasion and it was that thought that alone would have him push off tonight, so instead Evan was keeping his mind away from that. He couldn’t chicken out, not tonight.
“Babe, the food will be here in an hour” Evan called after he hung up the phone. An hour would give him plenty of time, and taking a long sip of his green tea Evan hoped that his house elf was almost done with the task Evan had assigned him. They had one hour. “What are your plans for tomorrow?” Evan asked as he entered their bathroom, sitting on the edge of the tub as he watched Alina take off her make up. “I know you have to go into the office at some point, and so do I. But I was hoping you might be able to leave a little earlier than usual? I was going to set up for us to go look at some places” Evan told her, it had been something they’d been talking about for a while. Sure they lived together here, but their parents had no clue. As far as most were concerned Evan lived alone as did Alina. Their next place would be their place, not just his flat that she moved into. “Just so that way we have some options on the table within the next few months” Evan explained, “Gregory called earlier and was talking about some new homes being built in the Notting Hill area that he thought we might like to see”.
“Of course I remembered!” Alina smiled when he pulled her in close and now that her hands were free she gently wrapped her arms around his waist. If she was being entirely honest she couldn’t remember when she had picked up on the fact that he preferred the green teas from a particular stop. He had never explicitly said it out loud to her. She had just taken to noticing his little preferences more and more over the months, and one of the first things she had picked up on was that whenever he returned with a tea in his hand the cup always seemed to be marked with the same shop emblem. How that happened without her even noticing herself she wasn’t sure, but based on the smile on his face it made him happy and that in turn lifted her own spirits. If bringing him his favourite drink kept him smiling and happy, then she would gladly do it every chance she got.
It didn’t even occur to her to think anything out of the ordinary could be going on when Evan suggested staying in and having a movie night. It wouldn’t be the first time the pair had called it a day early and lounged around at home instead of going out. So instead of being suspicious Alina pondered the suggestion for a moment before she smiled up at him and nodded along with the idea. “Alright, sounds good to me. As long as I get to pick the movie of course.” Laughing softly at his wink, she returned his kiss then headed toward their bedroom once he let her go.
Pulling on one of his old t-shirts, Alina left her clothes folded neatly on the dresser to deal with putting away later. But before she continued on into the bathroom she briefly sat down on the bed next to where Iris was curled up and scooped her cat up into her arms. Gently scratching the back of Iris’ head between the ears, she smiled as the cat leaned into the attention and hugged Iris close to her chest before returning her to her original spot on the bed. Slipping on her most comfortable pair of slippers she made her way to the bathroom to take her makeup off. It was almost a shame in a way. She had just put it on for her short errands and was taking it off again so soon. But old habits die hard and she had grown so accustomed to never leaving home bare faced that she still refused to do so now.
Flicking on the light Alina hummed softly as she pulled her hair up into a bun to get it out of her face and went about pulling her skincare products out of the cupboard. It was early in the evening and she would technically have plenty of time to do her skincare routine later on before bed. But if she was already taking off her makeup for the day she might as well take the time to pamper her skin a bit and save herself the time later.
She was just in the process of rinsing the exfoliant off when she heard Evan come in and threw him a quick smile before patting her face dry with a clean towel and continuing on to the toning step. “Tomorrow?” Alina paused her motions and bit her lip for a moment as she quickly tried to think over her schedule for the next day, and how it could be rearranged. “I have an appointment with a photographer about a shoot that’s coming up, but I’m sure I could bump it for another day. I’ll call the office tonight so they can deal with the rearranging.” She answered with a shrug before going back to her skincare and listening to him explain about the properties.
The idea of them eventually having their own place was certainly exciting and Alina was far from being upset about having to reschedule her day to go look at places. As much as she had grown to consider Evan’s flat home, it was still technically Evan’s flat that she had happened to move into. She was looking forward to having a place that was theirs, and that she could publicly say was theirs. “Notting Hill would be a nice area to live.” She admitted with a shrug. Alina had never paid much attention to real estate news, not particularly being interested in the talk of architecture or developments. Though she had heard of recent townhouses going up around Notting Hill that were apparently nice. And she always had held a certain appreciation for the vibrant colour scheme that seemed to be unique to that area. “Schedule it for whenever works for you. I’ll make it happen either way.”
As she finished patting the moisturizer into her skin Alina finished with a spritz of rosewater then let her hair down from its bun, running her fingers through it a few times then turning to Evan with a smile. “Alright, you’re the one with the plan tonight. What’s up next? Are we picking a movie or waiting until the food arrives?”
I’d do anything | Evan & Alina

While Alina didn’t care much for the Easter holiday itself, she could admit to being a fan of the colours that came along with it. The soft pastels in contrast with other brighter spring tones always drew her eyes, and so instead of hanging out at home she made her way out into the streets of Hogsmeade. So far she had zero intention of actually purchasing anything, but that could easily change depending on if something caught her attention.
Coffee in hand Alina browsed around, sipping her drink and not stopping anywhere too long until she reached a flower booth. The peonies in her vases at home were currently in pristine condition, but that didn’t mean a few additional vases of tulips couldn’t be added in other rooms. She was aware of the presence of someone on the bench nearby, but paid no attention to them, caring little about who it was. That is until she heard an irritated sounding voice come from them and she turned toward it.
Quirking a brow, Alina laughed a little and shook her head. “I’m sorry, have I done anything that would give you the impression you can tell me what to do?” Of course she recognized him as Rodolphus Lestrange. As far as she could remember he was a relatively good friend of her brother, and he was from a good family. His last name was almost as good as her own. But she still wasn’t going to allow herself to be spoken to with the tone he just used.
[Easter in Hogsmeade] [Date: March 25th] [Time: around 5 or 6]
Easter. It was a crazy time. A ‘family’ and ‘happiness’ time and Rodolphus couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do either one of those. He wasn’t too keen on seeing his Mother wondering if pink or green eggs were in season or his father who was nagging him more than his mother even attempted to. Breathing deeply he inhaled the slightly damp air while he sat on the bench. Maybe this hadn’t been the best of ideas. Considering that he wasn’t even capable of a smile behind the rim of the cup of coffee he held.
He hated waiting. Being forced into inaction, he mused, seemed to make a masochist out of him. Curious, wasn’t it? Rodolphus scoffed and took a sip from his cup. After a while he looked to the side of him from the corner of his eye. There was someone who hadn’t moved for quite some time now.
“There’s a certain amount of patience I have and it’s known to run out very quickly, so either sit down or…“ He waved a hand vaguely in the direction of the paths, or the ground, where other people mingled. Far, far away from him.
#i: rodolphus#// hi lovely!! welcome to the group! :)#// i'm courtney and can i just say i'm super excited to see rodolphus on the dash? <3#// also sorry about alina! she can be bitchy on the onset but i swear she's actually decently nice

Winter’s Home @wintermacnair
While Alina was used to occasionally having a few days go by without contact from Winter, she definitely wasn’t used to going over a week and a half without hearing anything. That alone wouldn’t have been enough to worry Alina, but it was the final piece in the puzzle of things that had been causing Alina to be concerned about her friend lately. Winter hadn’t been acting like herself the past few times they’d met up. Her eyes had been shifting around more, looking at those around them instead of ignoring everyone else as she used to do. And she seemed to be asking to meet up in more obscure places each time Alina messaged her.
Normally Alina would have just sent a text or called Winter to ease her own mind, but since Thorfinn’s death Alina had found herself becoming increasingly more worried about those she considered close. She wouldn’t outright admit it if asked, but she paid closer attention to Winter’s social media activity. And when she noticed a snapdragon in which she recognized Winter’s couch she knew Winter was home and took her opportunity. She made a brief pit stop at a cafe near the flat she and Evan shared where she picked up a coffee for herself and Winter, before heading over to Winter’s flat. When she arrived outside she shifted the cups into one arm, and being careful not to jostle them too much and risk spilling on her dress, she raised her free hand and knocked on the door hoping she wasn’t too late to catch Winter still at home.
