Zhao Yunlan finds him, of course. “Something wrong, Professor Shen?” he asks, coming to a stop in front of where Shen Wei is sitting, back ramrod straight, in one of his guest chairs, gaze trained on the floor. “Nothing’s wrong, Chief Zhao,” Shen Wei says without looking up, and his voice is calm and measured, but he’s lying. Against Zhao Yunlan, who can see through him to a terrifying degree, it’s almost a pointless gesture. Zhao Yunlan moves to sit in the other chair, but seems to think better of it and merely leans against it, body turned slightly away from Shen Wei as if to give him some privacy. He laughs, awkward. “It was that bad pretending to be my new husband, huh.” Shen Wei’s eyes snap up. Zhao Yunlan is uncharacteristically still, uncharacteristically despondent. There’s a tired slant to his shoulders that Shen Wei doesn’t like. “I won’t make you do it again,” Zhao Yunlan says, quiet and decisive. “We’ll find some other way to talk to her. I’ll go in alone if that’s the best we can come up with.” Shen Wei’s out of his chair before he registers himself moving, hand coming up to cup Zhao Yunlan’s cheek, but he catches himself and pats Zhao Yunlan awkwardly on the shoulder. “No,” he says, too sharply. “No,” he tries again, gentler, “my apologies. That wasn’t my intention at all.”

I saw a post saying that Boromir looked too scruffy in FotR for a Captain of Gondor, and I tried to move on, but I’m hyperfixating. Has anyone ever solo backpacked? I have. By the end, not only did I look like shit, but by day two I was talking to myself. On another occasion I did fourteen days’ backcountry as the lone woman in a group of twelve men, no showers, no deodorant, and brother, by the end of that we were all EXTREMELY feral. You think we looked like heirs to the throne of anywhere? We were thirteen wolverines in ripstop.

My boy Boromir? Spent FOUR MONTHS in the wilderness! Alone! No roads! High floods! His horse died! I’m amazed he showed up to Imladris wearing clothes, let alone with a decent haircut. I’m fully convinced that he left Gondor looking like Richard Sharpe being presented to the Prince Regent in 1813

So like there's a few posts about mxtx protagonists waiting, and sometimes they add Shen Wei from Guardian by priest, and I think I've finally cracked the code. Some people think mxtx has a favourite trope of having one character wait, but Shen Wei is just here disproving that. So it's something else.

So basically if you're a danmei top you just wait and during that time calm down and accumulate top energy. And if you're a danmei bottom waiting is not an option because you're impatient.
