Not everyone wants to go out dressed as a leprechaun to chug green beer at the local pub this St. Patrick’s Day. Some of us will want to take a more low key, but still very green approach.
This St. Patrick’s Day will still be dedicated to green — green cleaning, that is. All of the chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) we breathe in when working with harsher cleaning products is bad for our wellbeing and the health of the environment. Cleaning and sanitizing our homes shouldn’t come at the cost of our health. There has to be a better way to do it!

Your attic can get extremely hot and cold. If you have attic air leaks and insufficient insulation, a lot of your conditioned air will escape into your attic and out of your roof. Additionally, lack of insulation means more hot and cold temperatures seeping into the home.
Most people think about improving attic insulation in the fall and winter to keep the cold air out, but lack of insulation in spring and summer may be even worse for your wallet and comfort.
When temperatures start climbing, the hot rays from the sun beam down on your roof. As the roof absorbs heat from the sun, it starts to heat up your attic like an oven. Proper insulation in the form of radiant barriers ...

Welcome to my Air-conditioning posts section
Many homes in the San Francisco Bay Area use a heat pump to provide energy-efficient heating and air conditioning. A heat pump functions as typical central air conditioner in the summer; in the winter, the refrigeration cycle reverses itself to pump heat from the outdoors into your home. Instead of using combustion fuel, heat pumps use electricity and refrigerant to transfer heat from outside to inside.
When shopping for a new heat pump, the first thing you should do is determine what type of heat pump you want and how big it needs to be to provide ample heating and cooling to your home. If you’re unsure what you need, here are some tips to size a heat pump for your home’s part...

Introduction to Hot Water Boilers and Hydronic Systems
Introduction to Hot Water Boilers and Hydronic Systems
Originally posted at: http://ift.tt/2n9FMq2 Welcome to my Air-conditioning posts sectionHydronic boilers, coming from the word “hydro” meaning water, comprise central boilers and water heaters. The hot water or steam that is produced runs through pipes into radiators, which releases heat energy into the room. Once the water or steam loses its heat, it gets sent back to the boiler to be reheated. An electric-powered circulator sends the hot water to and from your boiler. This is why some people call boilers forced hot-water systems, in contract with a furnace which is referred to as a forced warm-air system. Fire Tubes Boilers are commonly made from steel or cast-iron, and use “fire tubes” which carry hot combustion gases. The burner uses fuel (usually g...I hope you enjoyed reading my posts, thank you for visiting my site http://ift.tt/2iBMXmc
