Recently we bought a robot vacuum cleaner and gave it a name “Kraken”. So every time we ask Siri to start the cleaning, I picture myself like this:

We got to see the pure night sky, with zero light pollution. It’s a thing you can hardly see in the city, so going to mountains has yet another perk.

The best part of living in Switzerland (apart from the amazing scenery, good welfare and global neutrality) is its location: it is right in the centre of Europe, so basically you can go everywhere by car or train. It’s amazing for the ecology and it allows us to travel with the dog, so it’s a win-win.
And so every now and then we’re trying to organise some short trips so that our lives are brighter and we have something to think of on gloomy winter nights :D
Last weekend we jumped into our friend’s car and drove all the way to the mountains, which took us just 1 hour to get there.
Although the weather was gloomy, we still had an amazing time, sitting by the fireplace, walking alongside the valleys and mountain rivers, eating fondue and drinking wine. Our puppy Atlas was also enjoying this getaway, as he could freely run in the woods and explore the nature. Everyone was happy, and now we add this weekend to one of the best vacations here.

As I wrote earlier, my whole life I have been an over-achiever aiming to build a career and become a top manager by my thirties.
But the life apparently had a different plan, so here I am, spending my time at home and writing a blog. But you know, what the best part is? I’m really enjoying it.
I started working when I was 20 and never stopped since then. Working hard, pushing myself, getting promoted. But always stressed out, never getting enough sleep, hardly seeing my family, always worrying if I’m on the right track and if I should change my career path.
And then, moving to Switzerland gave me a break I didn’t ask for. For 6 months after moving I’d been applying for jobs like crazy, getting no responses and getting more and more frustrated every day. Until at some point I just couldn’t take it anymore and decided to take a break from job hunting. And so far it’s been great! I get enough sleep, I read a lot, and I finally could allow myself to adopt a dog which I’d been planning for a few years already.
And although I’m still uncertain about my future, still ambitious to succeed, I am now calm. I have realised it’ll take more time than I expected, and now I am okay with that.
Do you want to know more about a job search in Switzerland? Ping me if you do!

I’ll start by sharing a story of my puppy Atlas 🐶
He is now 8 months old. We got him just 2 months ago, so we’re still on a journey of getting to know each other. But he’s loving, caring and kind that sometimes I even forget he’s a dog 🤎🤍
Atlas was rescued from Bosnia. As we found out, Bosnia has a lot of problems with stray dogs, so they put them into shelters. If no one adopts them within a certain period of time, these dogs get killed. It’s all horrifying and sad, but luckily there are many non-profit organisations that rescue these adorable creatures.
Atlas was saved together with his mom, and they traveled to France to live with a foster family while waiting for their new home. By then we’d been planning to adopt a dog for a while, and when we saw pictures of Atlas online, our hearts melted. I guess that’s what you call a love at first sight :)
He is still growing and has a lot to learn, but already now I can say that adopting him was the best thing that happened to me this year. The way he loves and cares is just overwhelming, and even 2 months later I can’t stop melting when looking at him.
Do you want to hear some fun stories about Atlas? 🐶🤎

Hi!
My name is Uliana. Last year I moved to Geneva, Switzerland, following my husband’s career. Finding a new job in Switzerland turned out to be a challenge, so from a career-driven over-achiever I temporarily became a housewife!
This is a new experience to me. But by now I have already gone through the 5 stages of grief, so you won’t hear any complaints (yay!). I have accepted my current role and the fact that finding a new job will take time. So I’ve decided to enjoy this sort of a gap year I never had, and to share my experience here.
My life journal will include everything that associates with a housewife — some tips & tricks, routine, maybe even recipes, but also lots of irony, travels and fun stories. I plan to post everyday, but we’ll see how it goes in real life.
I’d appreciate the likes and follows!
P.S.: Oh and I have an amazing dog named Atlas, who will be a hero of many posts - he’s so adorable that I’m sure you’ll love him!
