I'm just gonna share a bit of my tpc au rq; so in my au theres this sub-species of shapes known as Anima-Shapes (this terminology may change if i find a better term). Anima-shapes are essentially shapes with animal-like features like ears and tails. These traits aren't specific to only one specific species of shape as anyone can have them whether it be a sphere with fish like features or a pentagon that looks a bit like a cat (speaking of which; the Cube in my universe just so happens to be one of em). UNITED STATES SENATE APPROVES $886 BILLION DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION BILL

The United States Senate overwhelmingly approved the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill funding the U.S. Defense Department to the tune of $886 Billion after abandoning some of the more controversial, hot-button social policies pushed by some Republican lawmakers on Wednesday.

The annual Defense Bill passed with 87 votes in favor and 13 against. A vote in the United States House could come as soon as Thursday morning, with the hope the President could have it signed soon after.

The Bill is the result of many months of negotiations between Democratic and Republican leadership, along with the White House, and remained deadlocked for some time over funding for the war in Ukraine, with the final bill approving the funding.

Earlier this summer, hard-line Republican lawmakers passed their own version of the NDAA including policies blocking medical treatment for transgender troops, the Pentagon's travel abortion policies, and programs to promote "diversity and inclusion". Democrats apposed this version of the NDAA, and the negotiations have been going on until now.

The Senate Bill however does not include the more contentious provisions, and has garnered strong bipartisan support. Language limiting funding for abortion services, transgender medical treatment and drag shows were not included in the final draft.

The final bill did include a pay cap and hiring freeze for defense programs related to "diversity and inclusion". The approved version of the bill also includes provisions supported by Republicans prohibiting the promotion of Critical Race Theory and the display of "unapproved" flags at military instillations, with an eye towards targeting the gay pride and transgender flags.

Another provision pushed by Mississippi Republican Roger Wicker forces the Pentagon to formulate a plan for the use of unused border wall materials.

With some Republican lawmakers balking at the lack of oversight for Ukraine aid, negotiators finally agreed to create a new Special Inspector General for Operation Atlantic Resolve, the official name given to the operations responding to Russia's Special Military Operation in Ukraine.

Before the final vote, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul attempted a last minute meneuver to strip out the four-month extension of the sweeping surveillance powers given through the highly controversial Section 702 affording Intelligence Agencies the power to spy on American citizens who get caught up in the dragnet of foreign surveillance, however that move was voted down 65 to 35.

The final bill also includes provisions to implement the AUKUS submarine sharing pact between the U.S., U.K. and Australia, including the delivery of Virginia-class subs.

Republican Senator Roger Wicker had initially blocked the sub deliveries, in order to secure an additional $3.4 Billion in Submarine Industrial base funding alongside Ukraine and Israel aid. The final deal delays the sub delivery until one year after the bill becomes Law.

The Bill also approves a 5.2% pay raise for troops.

Normally, it's unheard of for a woman your age to get a job as an assistant to one of the most respected men working at the Pentagon, but you were lucky enough to know the right people. 

To your friends, it's no secret that you harbor feelings for Scott. He's extremely kind, understanding, respectful, and very, very handsome. Your eyes meet his and you nod, "of course, Mr. Huffman. I'll do that right away, sir." You watch them leave and can only hope he isn't angry with you.

Even though he's gone for the rest of your shift, Scott is still fresh in your mind. He always is. As embarrassing as it is, you often conjure up scenarios of the two of you in your head.

Scott whips around, venom laced in his tone as he fires back at his colleague. “First of all, Y/N isn’t a little kid. Two U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancers bombers assigned to the 9º Expeditionary Bomber Squadron arrived on Tuesday (10/31) at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, for a historic hot-pit refueling as part of the long-planned bomber task force training mission.

A hot-pit refueling refers to the tactic of refueling aircraft while the engines are still running. This marks the first time that U.S. Air Force B-1 has been replenished in this way at Incirlik Air Base. The aircraft stayed at the base for less than two hours before leaving for a training mission with the Turkish Air Force.

The Deputy Commander of the Wing of the 39ª Air Base, Colonel Robert Schoeneberg of the U.S. Air Force, and the Chief Command of the Wing of the 39ª Air Base, Chief Sergeant. Kevin Helms greeted the Commander of the 9º EBS, U.S. Air Force Colonel Lieutenant Ryan Stillwell, and the Sub-Commander of the 489º Bombing Group Command, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Marshall on the flight line.

The B-1s integrated with the Turkish military, including the KC-135R Asena refuelers and the F-16 Fighting Falcons, for training missions planned well in advance to practice Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) procedures and close air support training missions.

“Teamwork with our Turkish air force partners has demonstrated the interoperability and professionalism of NATO aviators,” Stillwell said. “Thank you to the 10ª Tank Base and 39ª Wing Team Titan Air Base for their specialized support and hospitality.”

Incirlik Air Base is one of the largest military facilities in Turkey and its strategic location makes it a center for NATO integration and the defense of NATO's southern flank.

“We are excited to support and celebrate this historic refueling operation in Incirlik,” Schoeneberg said. "This demonstrates the unique capabilities and strategic positioning of this base. In addition, it highlights for everyone that Turkey is a critical member of the NATO alliance and that Team Titan is open to business."

고작 means "only, just, barely." I'm not entirely sure how it adds meaning to this line, but it's a common word in Korean!

This means "because." Attach it to the verb of the clause with the reason. In this case, 있어서 means "because I have."

-네(요)

This is a sentence ending expressing surprise or admiration. This line might be expressing surprise at the fact that they returned.

He kisses your forehead with a soft hum, “You’ve been working so, so hard my love, and I’m so proud of all you’ve done and continue to do. I really do want to take your thoughts and worries away, but if I fuck you dumb right now then you’ll just want to sleep and that’s ignoring some of your needs.” When you whine he chuckles, but then continues, “So how about this? I draw you a bath while you finish calming down, since your muscles need to relax after sitting most of the day studying. I’ll order your favorite and when you get out we’ll eat, then once I make sure your muscles have actually recovered I’ll take away every last thought in that pretty little head of yours, one-by-one if I have to. How does that sound?” 

“Perfect.” You sigh out, melting into his arms for a moment before he’s kissing the top of your head again and pulling away to go prepare a bath for you. 

When he returns it’s to take your hand and guide you to the bathroom, carefully helping you strip and putting your hair out of the way, he’d help you wash that later but that wasn’t the point of this right now. Giving you the physical support you need to step into the bath, looking at it slightly surprised for a moment, before Hyunggu chuckles and encourages you to actually slip into it.

“You spoil me too much Hyunggu.” You let out a breath of relief when feeling the warm water surrounding you, hands swirling it slightly before you as you take in what Hyunggu did to it. Milk and lavender surround you as you collect some of the flowers in your hand for a moment before returning them to the tub.

“Hush, don’t think about that right now. Just relax for now, this will help you feel much better.” He assures, kissing your temple, “Let yourself relax fully and take your time, I’ll go order the food now. It’ll be ready whenever you are.” 

You close your eyes and lead your head back to rest, finally letting your body settle for the first time that day and you were sure the warmth fully surrounding you helped with that. Hyunggu pops in occasionally to check on you as well as to bring you a glass of wine. Then when the water cools enough that you’re ready to get out he is there to give you a hand and dry you off with a fluffy towel before slipping a robe onto you.  He doesn’t say much as he guides you, content to let your brain rest and just allow you to fully recharge for the night without the burden of conversation when it isn't necessary.  A warm meal is definitely what you need to feel much more alive, especially with the added benefit of it being your favorite and curbing your craving for it. Hyunggu cleared the table for you both and ushering you away from the kitchen before you could even catch a glimpse of the dirty dishes.

“That’s not for your pretty little head to worry about, just let me take care of everything tonight.” He places a soft kiss to your neck before leading you back to the bedroom and slipping the robe back off, making you anticipate what was to come.

i’m gonna try my best not to jinx this as i still have almost 4 hours left of work but

Gyrich says Rogue was involved in erasing the Pentagon's databanks on the X-Men - which was ACTUALLY done by Carol Danvers, see issue #158- and that she killed a SHIELD agent aboard their helicarrier - who was ACTUALLY killed by a Hellfire Club agent who was also aboard the helicarrier (see issue #182). Gyrich says an armorer named Forge has developed a weapon that neutralizes the powers of mutants. Gyrich shows off the weapon.

Raven Darkholme BURSTS into the room and she's furious that Gyrich knows about this top secret project and that he's actually holding the only functioning prototype of the weapon. (Remember everyone, Darkholme is also Mystique.) Dr. Valerie Cooper follows Darkholme into the room and says that Rogue is the perfect test case for the neutralizer weapon. Dr. Cooper says the President wants Rogue neutralized.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters

Storm interrupts a discussion between the Professor and Rachel. She says that Rogue is missing. They go to use Cerebro to try and find her, leaving Rachel alone in the Professor's office. Rachel finds a phone number for Scott Summers and calls it. Scott answers, but Rachel can't speak. Madelyne asks who it is, and Rachel hangs up. Rachel sobs as she says "Daddy! Mom!"

Washington, D.C.

Raven Darkholme enters the secret, sub-level complex of the Pentagon that she uses as the headquarters for her Brotherhood. She shape-shifts into Mystique. Irene, a precog aka Destiny, says Rogue is in danger. Mystique asks Irene what she should do, but Irene says her powers are jumbled, as if the "fabric of time itself has been rent asunder." As Raven Darkholme, she contacts Forge and explains what Dr. Cooper and Gyrich are doing. Forge is furious, takes off in his jet, and calls the President directly.

On a military plane above D.C., Gyrich explains to Dr. Cooper that the Avengers used a device to track Rogue in the past (see Avengers Annual #10) and that this is what they will use to find her too.

Caldecott County, Mississippi

Rogue relaxes by the Mississippi River. Storm approaches and asks to join her. (The Professor must've found Rogue with Cerebro.) They discuss how Rogue discovered her powers when she kissed a boy right at this spot by the river. Rogue says she still can't control her powers and she doesn't know where her loyalties lie - with the X-Men or Mystique's Brotherhood. Rogue says she'll always have to live as two people - herself and Carol Danvers. Storm offers to let Rogue absorb her memories and abilities in order to show Rogue that not every use of her powers must be an act of violence. Storm removes a glove and Rogue takes her hand. Storm collapses as Rogue absorbs her abilities. It's a beautiful moment - Rogue sees the world differently. She feels the sun and the wind and the water more than ever before. She practices using Storm's powers. She likes it. She goes to touch Storm again to absorb more before stopping and asking herself what she's doing.

ZAP!

Rogue is blasted by the neutralizer, but on a low setting. Federal officers approach, saying they have a warrant for Rogue's arrest. Rogue tries to fly away to lead the officers away from Storm, who is still on the ground, but she can't. Rogue realizes she can still control the elements, so she creates a huge hurricane with wind and lightning and she blows away the officers and their vehicles. But Rogue can't control Storm's powers and she accidentally hits a boat on the river and it starts sinking. Rogue feels terrible because there are innocent people on the boat, but there's nothing she can do. Luckily, Storm wakes up and she's able to stop the hurricane. They fly to the boat and pull it to shore with a rope.

In the meantime, Gyrich calibrates the neutralizer weapon for full power, saying it was a mistake to shoot Rogue with the weapon on a low setting. He aims at Rogue again. Forge arrives and tries to tackle Gyrich. But Forge is too late. Gyrich shoots. Storm pushes Rogue out of the way. Storm is hit by the neutralizer!

Storm discharges a huge bolt of lightning and her and Rogue drop into the river. Forge dives in. He finds Storm, but not Rogue. He pulls Storm ashore. He's FURIOUS that Gyrich shot the neutralizer. He says he has striped Storm of her powers and destroyed her. He says the X-Men have always fought for humanity and now Gyrich may have turned them from defenders to enemies.

Looking on are some weird alien creatures that call themselves Dire Wraiths. SHIELD agents had mentioned they were fighting against these Wraiths a couple issues back. The Wraiths say the neutralizer could lead to humanity discovering weaponry that will harm the wraiths and because of that, Forge must die!
